Şevket AKPINAR 1929-2010

Şevket AKPINAR

He was born in 1929 in İstanbul. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1953, where he entered as a military medical student. In 1958, he started to work as an assistant in Gülhane Military Medical Academy Neurology Clinic. In 1961, he became a specialist in neurological and mental diseases. From 1969 to 1971, he worked at the University of Missouri in the United States. He returned to GATA-Ankara Neurology Clinic in 1971 and received the title of professor from GATA in 1980. Prof. Şevket Akpınar also described Levodopa treatment for the first time in Restless Legs Syndrome and entered the literature.
