Sabuncuoğlu ŞEREFEDDİN 1385 – 1468

Sabuncuoğlu Şerefeddin was a Turkish physician and surgeon who delivered important works in the field of medicine during Ottoman period. He was the owner of the first Turkish surgical work. He was born in 1385 in Amasya. His grandfather Sabuncuoğlu Hacı İlyas Çelebi and his father Ali Çelebi worked as doctors. After receiving medical education from Burhaneddin Ahmed in Bimarhane in Amasya, he started working as a doctor there when he was 17 years old. Sabuncuoğlu Şerefeddin continued his works in Bimarhane for 14 years. As a result of his studies, his name was heard all over Anatolia.
