Who is Necip Fazıl Kısakürek?
Necip Fazıl Kısakürek was born in istanbul in 1904. After studying at the French and then American schools in Gedikpaşa, Büyükdere Emin Efendi Mahalle Mektebi, Büyük Reşid Paşa Numune and Vaniköy Rehber-i İttihad schools, he graduated from Heybeliada Numune School. He enrolled in Heybeliada Naval School. In 1921, he enrolled in the Department of Philosophy of istanbul Dârülfü, and before completing his education there, he went to Paris Sorbonne University in 1924 to study philosophy with a state scholarship.

Upon his return to Türkiye, he worked as a civil servant and inspector in some banks in Istanbul and Anatolia. He taught various courses at a French school, Ankara State Conservatory, İstanbul Academy of Fine Arts and Robert College. From 1942 onwards, he left the civil service and started broadcasting completely.

Necip Fazıl, one of the great poets who has a unique place in Turkish literature, is a name that has produced successful works in different fields of literature such as poetry, theater, and novels. 

His first poems were published in Yeni Mecmua in 1922. He was known as the "Poet of the Pavements" because he attracted great attention with his poetry book called Kaldırımlar (Pavements).

His poems were published in Milli Mecmua, Hayat and Varlık magazines. Between 1929 and 1936, he published the magazine Ağaç. 
Between 1943 and 1978, he worked as the owner and writer of the Büyük Doğu magazine and the Büyük Doğu publications. His articles were published in Son Posta, Yeni İstanbul, Babıali'de Sabah, Bugün, Milli Gazete, Hergün and Tercüman newspapers. In addition to his poetry books, he also has works such as theater, stories, novels, memoirs, religious-mysticism, essays, anecdotes, and political-historical studies.

His poems were published in the form of books named “Örümcek Ağı”, “Kaldırımlar”, “Ben ve Ötesi”, “Sonsuzluk Kervanı”, “Çile”, and he wrote theater works such as “Tohum”, “Bir Adam Yaratmak”, “Künye”, “Yunus Emre”, “Kanlı Sarık”, “Para”, “Mukaddes Emanet”, “Sabır Taşı”, “Reis Bey”, “Nam-ı Diğer Parmaksız Salih”, “Ahşap Konak”. In addition to poetry and theater plays, he also wrote stories and novels, and his stories were published under the names of “Birkaç Hikâye”, “Bir Kaç Tahlil”

Necip Fazıl, who gained widespread fame with his political and intellectual writings as well as his artistry, experienced a great change in his thought and intellectual life in the 1930s and reflected this change in his works. 

After meeting Abdülhakîm Arvâsî in 1934, Kısakürek, who underwent a great change, made his views known to the public through the Büyük Doğu magazine, which published 512 issues between 1943-1978, and led the Büyük Doğu Hareketi.

Kısakürek died on May 25, 1983 in İstanbul. Necip Fazıl Awards have been given in December every year since 2014 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the name of Necip Fazıl, whose family established the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Culture and Research Foundation in 2015.
