Research Focus

Consultation Liaison Psychiatry is a discipline based on the understanding that health is inseparable with its physical and spiritual dimensions which affects each other. It aims to provide psychiatric treatment and psychosocial care simultaneously with medical treatment and care to patients. This discipline helps to deal with the physical, mental, and social integrity of the human being in line with the scientific approach that the disease cannot be treated without understanding the patient. On the other hand, psycho-oncology can be considered as a sub-discipline or under the umbrella of Health Psychology.

Areas in which the discipline of psycho-oncology works:

  • Psychological and behavioral factors involved in the emergence of cancer
  • The psychological effects of cancer on patients, their families and the team applying the treatment
  • Various mental and behavioral reactions experienced by cancer patients in diagnosis, treatment and advanced stages of the disease
  • Psychosocial support to be provided to cancer patients and their relatives
