SHMYO / Environmental Health - Head of Program / ÜSUZEM / Deputy Director
Today, approximately one million children are in the high-risk group with regard to the effects of the climate crisis. Climate change causes issues that directly affect children such as respiratory diseases, vector-borne infectious diseases, migration, stress, and drought. It is important to address the climate crisis caused by climate change before it is too late. With the "Child and Climate Studies", it is aimed to raise the awareness of children of all ages, primarily children during early childhood, their caregivers and all professionals in contact with the child (child development specialists, teachers, psychologists, social workers, pediatricians, nurses), and thus, it is planned to carry out academic and applied studies to increase the awareness of the society, raise awareness, prevent various consumption situations and develop strategies with the aim of coping with the situations that occur as a result of climate crises.
