Announcement on the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Course Registration

Course Registration Procedures

The course registration process for graduate, undergraduate, and associate degree students for the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester will take place between February 17- March 2, 2025.

Course add/drop procedures will be conducted between March 3 - March 9, 2025. (Course selections can also be made during these dates.)

First-year students' course registration will be done automatically. They do not need to take any action regarding course registration. They only need to log in to the Student Information System (OBS) and check that their courses have been assigned.

Registration Steps

  1. Students will select the courses they will take this semester through the course selection screen in the Student Information System (OBS).
  2. Students will approve their course registrations online and submit them for their advisor’s online approval.
  3. Students who wish to consult with their academic advisor regarding course registration can contact them via the STIX system or via their advisor’s email.

For any questions regarding course registration, please consult your academic advisor first.
 

Student advisory procedures will be conducted in accordance with the university's Student Advising Regulations.

 

Important Notes for Undergraduate and Associate Degree Students

  1. First-year students’ course registrations will be done automatically. They do not need to take any action regarding course registration. They only need to log in to the Student Information System (OBS) and check that their courses have been assigned.
  2. Only 2nd-year, 3rd-year, and 4th-year students are required to complete course registration through Student Information System (OBS).
  3. Students must first enroll in the courses they previously failed or have not taken before selecting new courses. These must be taken in accordance with the semester order. If a course has been removed from the curriculum, a designated replacement course will be taken.
  4. The semester course load is 30 ECTS, and the maximum course load is 45 ECTS.
  5. Students cannot take courses that have not been approved by their academic advisor.
  6. Students can retake previously passed courses to improve their grades with their advisor’s approval. Regardless of the previous grade, the most recent grade will be valid.
  7. First-year students cannot take courses from upper semesters.
  8. Double Major and Minor Program students must first confirm their major course selections before selecting courses for their Double Major or Minor Program through OBS.
  9. Students with a GPA of 3.00 or higher may take one additional course from an upper year starting from the third semester with their advisor’s approval. Students with a GPA of 3.50 or higher may take two additional courses from an upper year.
  10. Students who have completed their final year but still have remaining courses will register through the Student Affairs Office using a course registration form.
  11. Undergraduate students with a GPA below 1.80 are placed on probation status. Students on probation at the end of their fourth semester may take a maximum of 2 courses if their GPA is between 1.60- 1.69 and 3 courses if their GPA is between 1.70 - 1.79, until they regain good academic standing.
  12. For Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty 4th-year students: The OHS401 (Occupational Health and Safety I) and OHS402 (Occupational Health and Safety II) courses have been merged into OHS404 (Occupational Health and Safety). Students must complete their registration without adding OHS404, and advisors will manually add it. Students who previously passed OHS401 or OHS402 will have OHS404 added as a 2-ECTS course, while those who failed or are taking it for the first time will have OHS404 added as a 4-ECTS course. A similar rule applies to the Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish) program for the ISG401 and ISG402 courses.

Courses for International Students

  • TURK114 Turkish Language II (Instructor: Instructor Selçuk Duman – Medium of Instruction: Turkish, content adjusted to student levels)
  • ATA114 Principles of Atatürk and History of Revolutions II (Instructor: Instructor Selçuk Duman – Medium of Instruction: English, content adjusted to student levels)

International students who wish to take the Turkish Language and Atatürk’s Principles and Revolution History courses in Turkish (distance learning) may contact their academic advisor or the course instructor to request changes.

Important Notes for Graduate Students

  • Students in the Scientific Preparation phase must select the Scientific Preparation courses listed in their curriculum.
  • The course phase students' semester credit load is 30 ECTS.
  • Thesis students must register for their thesis course. Students in their fifth or sixth extended term must pay the extension fee before registering.
  • Students cannot take courses that have not been approved by their academic advisor.
  • Course registration must be completed via OBS, and approval from the advisor must be obtained electronically.
  • Students whose course registration has been approved but wish to consult their advisor can contact them via the STIX system or email.
  • Students without advisor approval cannot attend classes.
  • One day after advisor approval, students’ academic status will be updated on the e-Government system (e-Devlet).

 

Important Notes for Medical Faculty Students

  1. First-year students’ course registrations will be done automatically. They do not need to take any action regarding course registration.
  2. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year Medical Faculty students will complete their course registration between February 10 - February 23, 2025. Course add/drop procedures will take place between February 24 - March 2, 2025.
  3. 4th and 5th-year Medical Faculty students will complete their course registration between February 17 - March 2, 2025. Course add/drop procedures will take place between March 3 - March 9, 2025.
  4. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year Medical Faculty students must complete their registration through OBS.

Important Notes for Faculty of Dentistry Students

  1. Faculty of Dentistry students’ course registrations will be conducted between February 10 - February 23, 2025. Course add/drop procedures will be held between February 24 - March 2, 2025.
  2. First-year students’ course registrations will be done automatically. They do not need to take any action regarding course registration.
  3. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students must complete their registration through Student Information System OBS.
