High-level visit from Üsküdar University to Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemistry...
President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan and the accompanying delegation visited Atabay Synthesis R&D, Biotechnology R&D and pharmaceutical production facilities of Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industry in Gebze Dilovası. Tarhan and his entourage also exchanged views on University-Industry cooperation and possible bilateral agreements.
Under the leadership of Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel and Vocational School of Health Services Asst. Prof. Salih Tuncay Atabay made trips and examinations in the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry.
Tarhan and his entourage were accompanied by factory manager Şahin Gürsel and production manager Adil Kaya.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Gürsel conveyed the studies carried out on the production of pharmaceutical APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients), human, agricultural and veterinary drugs, and the production of biotechnological drugs since its establishment in Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industry in 1939.
Within the framework of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), which is planned to be signed for the next period, the topics of production in GMP standards, application to Technology and Innovation Support Programs (TEYDEB), Scientist Support Programs (BİDEB) calls, student internship and employment opportunities were discussed as priorities.
Visiting the factory production facilities, Prof. Tarhan visited the paracetamol production area, which is the only domestic production in Türkiye, and received information about the production process.
In order to carry out cooperation with the Bioengineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Chemical Engineering departments within Üsküdar University and possible project studies, Üsküdar University R&D and Innovation Policies Directorate (ARGEYEP) and Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industry will produce OTC (over-the-counter) drugs and contribute to the studies to be carried out in the Phase 1 center, which is planned to be established at our university after in vivo and in vitro studies.
