Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Medical Pathology and President of the Anadolu Aydınlar Ocağı (Anatolian Intellectual Society), Prof. İbrahim Özte was a guest on “Fifth Force” program. Drawing attention to the meaning and importance of August 30 Victory Day, Öztek stated that Turks have a deep-rooted history and that there are great enemies who want to make the country forgotten. Emphasizing that the unity of the Republic of Türkiye should be raised to the highest level, Prof. İbrahim Öztek underlined that the heroes of the Turkish nation come from the same genes and leave sacred legacies. Öztek, who conveyed the details of two important victories in Turkish history to the audience, mentioned that the two greatest victories in history were the August 26 victories.

The program, which was held online, attracted great attention. Poet and Thinker Levent Ağaoğlu was also the guest of the program.

"These two victories have changed Turkish and world history"

Talking about two important victories in Turkish history, Prof. İbrahim Öztek stated that "The two greatest victories in our history are the victories of August 26. One is the Victory in the Battle of Manzikert, and the other is the Victory of the Commander-in-Chief in the Battle of Manzikert. These two victories changed Turkish and world history. At the head of both of them were the greatest commanders of the Turks, or history has ascribed to them the title of commanders who wrote epics and changed history. One of these two commanders was Mehmet Alparslan and the other was Mustafa Kemal. If we look at their names, both of them bear the names or epithets of the great prophet. That is why the gates of Anatolia was opened to Muslim Turks, and after that, it was said that "I have bought you such a homeland that it will be yours forever." On the other hand, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who completed this beautiful word of Alparslan, tells us the following: “One day my mortal body will surely turn to dust, but the Turkish Republic will stand forever,” in other words, it will live forever."

They fought to the last drop of their blood

Talking about the Battle of Sakarya, Öztek said that "The Battle of Sakarya is a very big war, and we have 6 thousand martyrs. There are 40,000 people who are injured and missing. The other side has 23,000 casualties. Their dead are a little less than ours. Atatürk said, "It was a blood war” because we lost both our officers and suffered a great loss. After the Battle of Sakarya, when the enemy attacked the places where we retreated again, Atatürk gave the following order: “There is no line defense, there is surface defense, that surface is the whole homeland.” In other words, where you are, where there are troops, you will fight to the last drop of your blood. You will not take a step back. That is exactly what happened. The enemy met with overwhelming resistance and could not advance. Unable to advance, the enemy was forced to retreat. No matter how much the enemy attacked, no matter how much force he used, it did not succeed and had to take a step back a little more. When they were forced to take a step back, the superiority of the Turkish troops was revealed and the days of the great victory that we call August 26 were beginning."

Then 40,000 veterans marched ...

Drawing attention to the importance of Turan tactics in defeating the Byzantine army, Öztek stated that "When Alparslan said 'I am going to drink the martyrdom syrup' on his white horse, wearing white clothes that he described as my shroud, 40 thousand veterans marched after him. Alparslan destroyed the Byzantine army, which was almost four times larger than his own army, towards the evening with the rain of arrows and Turan tactics that he started in the afternoon, took the King commander Romanos Diogenes prisoner and then spared him."

On August 30, victory was won on all fronts

Talking about the details of the war, Prof. İbrahim Öztek stated that "Mustafa Kemal Pasha gave his magnificent order on his horse named Sakarya, saying, "There is no salvation unless every inch of the homeland is covered with our blood, either independence or death!"; ' Armies, your first target is the Mediterranean. Forward!' The Great Offensive, which began on the morning of August 26, continued on all fronts on August 27. On August 28-29, the Greek army was surrounded by a Turan tactic. Escape routes were blocked, and a large number of them were destroyed or captured. Among those taken prisoner was the Greek General Trikoupis. He was also pardoned by Mustafa Kemal Pasha. On August 30, victory was won on all fronts. The remaining enemy was fleeing towards the Mediterranean. Just as Alparslan led this great war in the Muş plain from the Sultanate hill, Mustafa Kemal Pasha led the war from Zafer Tepe. While Alparslan defeated the Bulgarian, Slavic, Georgian, Armenian and European Turkish troops with Byzantium, Mustafa Kemal Pasha destroyed the Greeks, while the Entente states such as the United Kingdom, France and Italy, which occupied the country, and the Armenians who were sitting on their tails were also brought to their knees. After the victory, Alparslan said, 'I have bought you such a homeland that it will be yours forever.' Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who saved honor and dignity of the homeland for five years from all the enemies, said that "One day my mortal body will surely turn to dust, but the Turkish Republic will stand forever."

"We need to raise the unity of the Republic of Türkiye to the highest level"

Emphasizing that Turkish unity should be protected no matter what, Öztek stated that "Today, Türkiye's population exceeds 84 million. A large part of the population is a young population, and it has a thriving economy. It has a strong army. We have one of the largest armies in the world. We have a deep-rooted history. Our culture is great. Our aboveground and underground riches and energy routes pass through Anatolia. Our geostrategic structure makes us the most important country in the world. There are great enemies who want to make this country forget. Our enemies have never diminished. As Turkish children gets to know their ancestors, they will find strength in themselves to do greater things, to write epics in civilization, science and science, and to rise above civilized countries. As they get to know their ancestors, they will find strength in themselves. Let us not forget that as we deteriorate, we will become easy prey to our enemies. Therefore, no matter what happens, no matter who has what structure, it is necessary to establish Turkish unity and the unity of this nation. We need to raise the unity of the Republic of Türkiye to the highest level. The heroes of the Turkish nation come from the same genes. They have left us sacred legacies. Our duty is to protect these legacies and to multiply the glorious pages of our glorious history. Happy Victory Week."
