Feeding animals also supports spiritual development!
In recent years, public awareness of animals has been increasing. The role of the media, legal regulations and social responsibility projects reinforce awareness of animal rights.
Noting that the importance of animal rights and welfare has started to be expressed more in recent years, Veterinarian Burcu Çevreli stated that "Animal rights defenders have developed social awareness on this issue. It is up to people to defend the rights of animals who are subjected to unlawful treatment and do not have a chance to defend their own rights."
Responsible Manager of Üsküdar University Experimental Research Unit (ÜSKÜDAB) Veterinarian Burcu Çevreli evaluated the issue of social sensitivity towards animals, which has recently been on the agenda with the legal regulation known as the law on stray animals.
Problems of stray animals have become visible
Veterinarian Burcu Çevreli stated that animals, as an entity that people feel close to and find support for, have always had a place in their lives and continue to do so, and Çevreli expressed that "The awareness that animals also have rights has developed. In particular, the problems of stray animals have become more visible and social responsibility projects have been developed."
The importance of animal rights and welfare is being expressed more
Noting that sensitivity towards animals has become more and more visible in society recently, Çevreli continued her remarks as follows: "With the development of media and communication technologies, information about animals can be accessed more quickly, and in the light of this information, our empathy ability also improves thanks to the interest and love they show us. Although the human-animal relationship, which dates back to ancient times, is mostly based on the interests of humans, the importance of animal rights and welfare has started to be expressed more in recent years. Animal rights advocates have developed social awareness on this issue. It is up to people to defend the rights of animals who are subjected to unlawful treatment and have no chance to defend their own rights. While thousands of animals are faced with ill-treatment that reaches the level of torture every day, people who act with ethical considerations feel the need to protect animals even more strongly. This has reinforced social awareness towards animals."
Humans domesticated some species as they settled down
Reminding that people domesticated various types of animals during the Neolithic period while transitioning from hunting and gathering to settled life, Veterinarian Burcu Çevreli stated that "At that time, the human-animal relationship was largely evaluated in the economic dimension, but today this relationship has come to the fore in emotional dimensions such as love, friendship and sharing loneliness. Animal rights, on the other hand, express the rights that must be provided for animals to continue their lives in the ecosystem in a healthy way, unlike the rights of humans. The idea that animals have some rights as a part of the earth's environment and that these rights are protected within the framework of the law has started to gain importance because the deterioration of the original structure of nature directly affects human life."
The importance of education in shaping children's perceptions of the environment and nature...
Veterinarian Burcu Çevreli stated that the studies showed that animal-supported practices contribute to the physical and mental health of people and it adds a new dimension to the human-animal relationship. Çevreli concluded her remarks as follows: "Education plays a decisive role in shaping children's perceptions of the environment and nature. In particular, education has a great impact on the transformation of love of nature and animals and environmental protection into permanent behaviors and lifestyle. Loving, feeding and caring for a pet or street animal makes a lifelong positive contribution to a child's spiritual development and imagination."
