Stating that the most important factors that students should pay attention to when making university choices are to choose a university and department that suits their interests and abilities, Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan said that "I suggest to students that the field they choose should be a subject that they are passionate about. Moreover, it is important for them to consider their future career goals and evaluate how their chosen major will contribute to achieving these goals. Get to know yourself and discover where you are successful. This will both increase your academic success and allow you to enjoy your university life."

The importance of research opportunities and practical experience

Noting that research opportunities are very important for students to discover their scientific curiosity and to have in-depth knowledge in the academic field, Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan stated that "Üsküdar University offers a wide range of research opportunities to students. Our state-of-the-art research centers and state-of-the-art laboratories, such as TRGENMER, provide students with practical experience and support their academic studies. By taking advantage of these opportunities, students can take an active role in projects, receive mentorship from their academic advisors and make scientific publications. Pointing out that there are fields such as artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, biotechnology, data science and sustainable energy among the fields that will come to the fore in science and technology in the future, Asst. Prof. Cihan Taştan stated that "Students should be interested in these fields and improve themselves in these areas. In addition, having a multidisciplinary approach and being open to continuous learning will provide a great advantage for future scientists and engineers."

Emphasizing the importance of students who are interested in fields such as genetics and epigenetics to have a strong basic knowledge on these subjects, Asst. Moreover, following current developments in this field, reading scientific articles, and attending conferences will help students increase their knowledge.
