Mert Akcanbas, was born in 01-01-1963 in Istanbul - Turkey. Mert Akcanbas has completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in Louisiana State University (1980-1999). His master’s thesis is on “ Simulation of American and Japanese Production Processes in Automobile Industry” (1987), his Doctoral dissertation thesis in psychology is “Existentialist View of Meaning and Purpose of Life” (1999). Mert Akcanbas has many articles published in different periodicals and referred as an expert by media such Wall Street Journal and Forbes magazine. Dr. Mert Akcanbaş’s Disaster and Victim Psychology and Psychological First Aid books are accepted as official text books by the Ministry of Health. Dr. Akcanbas has worked with UNDAC (United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination Team) in Sumatra earthquake, and tsunami 2005, Muzaffarabad earthquake 2005, Java and Sumatra earthquakes 2007, Southwestern Pakistan earthquake 2007, Southern Bangladesh cyclon Sidr 2007 and with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in Gustav, Ike Gulf Coast hurricanes, TX 2007, Rita, Dennis Gulf Coast hurricanes , TX, La 2005 and Catrina hurricane New Orleans La 2005, Maramara earthquake 1999.
