Programs within the Institute of Health Sciences were Introduced
Continuing their education with the motto "A Higher Future Awaits You with Üsküdar" Üsküdar University made the closing of its postgraduate program promotions with the Institute of Health Sciences. At the end of the meeting, the questions of the candidates about a wide range of master's and doctoral programs in different fields were answered and the education programs of the Institute of Health Sciences were discussed in all aspects.
Üsküdar University Health Sciences Institute academic staff participated in the program moderated by Educational Institutions and Guidance Services Manager, Specialist Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş.
Üsküdar University Institute Director Aslı Işık also shared important information in the program that was held on Zoom Webinar.
Assoc. Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel: “Online education will also have compulsory attendance”
Director of the Institute of Health Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel answered the questions about the Institute of Health Sciences. Ergüzel said: “Science exams are carried out as written exams. We will hold the exams on campuses. We organize the class system by planning the students who will take the exam in accordance with social distance. Candidate students who will take the science exams can learn the required dates from our institute web site. The attendance requirement will be determined according to the amount of the course for the students who have completed the registration process. In the next period, attendance will be mandatory in online education, and the attendance of students will be monitored through the system.”.
Prof. Selma Doğan: “There may be different transitions in the field of nursing”
Head of the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Selma Doğan shared information about postgraduate education in the field of Nursing and said: “There is no admission from outside the field of nursing to our master's program. However, postgraduate education can be done by supplementing with scientific preparatory class and basic courses if there are different transitions within the fields of specialization of nursing. Students who transfer to a different field in their doctorate, on the other hand, definitely need to take scientific preparatory courses.”.
Prof. Nurper Ülküer: “Child Development has an interdisciplinary field”
Sharing information about Child Development Postgraduate education, Head of the Child Development Department Prof. Nurper Ülküer said: “We have admission from other disciplines, however, we have fundamental courses that we consider important. If students pass these fundamental courses, they can complete the master's degree. Since child development is an interdisciplinary field, we can accept students from psychology, pre-school education and social work as long as they get certain grades from the science exam. Our science exam is valid for all prospective students within and outside of the field.”.
Assoc. Prof. İsmail Barış: “We have two fundamental lessons”
Head of the Department of Social Work within the Faculty of Health Sciences, Assoc. Prof. İsmail Barış made his remarks on postgraduate education in the social work department: “The social work department can accept students from outside the field, however, they have to take two fundamental courses during their undergraduate education. If students do not neglect these basic courses that they can take simultaneously, they can complete them. However, most of our students neglect and fail the course.”.
Asst. Prof. Deniz Acuner: “Health Sciences undergraduate students do not need additional scientific preparation”
Health Management Department Asst. Prof. Deniz Acuner underlined that students who receive their undergraduate education within the Health Sciences are more comfortable in scientific preparation and said: “We can include not only health management graduates, but also all students who have a bachelor's degree in health sciences to the program. There is no need for additional scientific preparation for these students, however, they must take scientific preparation courses if they are going to apply directly to the doctoral program and do not have a health management master's degree.”.
Asst. Prof. Rüştü Uçan “We Include Necessary Training in All Courses”
Head of the Department of Occupational Health and Safety, Faculty of Health Sciences, Asst. Prof. Rüştü Uçan, member of the Business Security Program, stated that the program is open to all areas ad added: “Our door is open to all candidates who have a four-year undergraduate degree. The occupational safety program has a very open program for different areas. There is no need to take additional courses for the thesis or non-thesis program. We include the necessary training in all courses.”.
Prof. Ahmet Konrot: “Candidate students should start preparing for the science exam”
Head of the Language and Speech Therapy Department Prof. Ahmet Konrot answered the questions of the students in the program. Conrot said: “We will have two exams held in August and September. My advice to future students who meet the application requirements is to prepare for the exam in advance. We are now in a period where we are accelerating in remote access. Speech and language therapy program was a daytime training program. However, we are currently in an arrangement. We make arrangements to ensure that our students are at school for at least one full day. Apart from this, we will continue our activities as an online course in the evenings.”.
What conditions are required for postgraduate education in Health Sciences?
Aslı Işık, who is responsible for the institute, explained the postgraduate requirements of the Institute of Health Sciences; “Graduate candidates must first apply online for registration. Our students are required to attend the science exams of the departments they apply for. Students who are entitled to final registration after the science exam, must apply with the final registration documents. These consist of ALES exam result, transcript, graduation certificate, photocopy of identity card and photographs for students with thesis. We do not seek ALES scores from non-thesis students, however, they must have all other requirements for the final registration. Students who want to participate in English programs must have a foreign language score.”.
