Üsküdar is among the 9 Turkish universities in UNIMED!

At the UNIMED Week event, the number of members of the Mediterranean Universities Association (UNIMED) reached a total of 179 universities from 25 different countries. Within the scope of the event held in Brussels on February 18-20, Üsküdar University's membership application was also approved. In this context, Üsküdar University was among the members of 9 universities from Türkiye. Founded in 1991 and bringing together universities in the Mediterranean region, the association aims to create thematic sub-networks in order to strengthen scientific collaborations.

At the UNIMED Week event held in Brussels on 18-20 February 2025, Üsküdar University's membership application was approved.

With the new universities, the number of members of UNIMED has reached a total of 179 universities from 25 different countries. With the approval of the application, Üsküdar University was among the members of 9 universities from Türkiye.

While the number of Turkish universities was 7 before, with the last event, the membership of Üsküdar University and Çağ University was accepted, thus increasing the number of Turkish universities to 9.

What is UNIMED?

UNIMED is an association founded in 1991 that brings together universities in the Mediterranean region. Its main purpose is to increase scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region. It encourages the participation of member universities in international projects, provides funding and planning support, and supports the mobility of students and academic staff in the region. In addition, it establishes thematic sub-networks and organizes national/international meetings and seminars in order to strengthen scientific collaborations. UNIMED is a permanent stakeholder of the European Commission and the Union for the Mediterranean and has observer status under the Western Mediterranean Forum (5+5 Dialogue) from November 2024.
