The Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), which was established in 2013 and features distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, especially in the USA, continues its global studies with the support of Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital. Üsküdar University became the only university to represent our country in the G20 - Neuroscience20 (BRAIN- SPINE- MENTAL- HEALTH) conference this year. While the delegation representing Türkiye was presented with the 'Global Neuroscience Leaders' award for their contributions and services in the field of neuroscience, the delegation is now preparing to represent our country at the summit to be held in Brazil in 2024…

Under the chairmanship of President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, a delegation consisting of NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital and Üsküdar University Board Member Fırat Tarhan and Software Engineering Department Head Prof. Türker Ergüzel represented our country in New Delhi.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, who continues to support the global studies of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) which includes distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, especially in the USA, made a presentation at the session titled 'Opioid Addiction and Pain Management - Mental Health, Brain Health & Spine Health'.

In his speech, Tarhan pointed out the 4 fundamental pillars of the new generation neuroscience transformation and informed the participants about the NP model and flow diagram developed with the cooperation of NPİSTANBUL Hospital and Üsküdar University and for which an international patent application was made.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: "We aim to treat without making a wound"

Stating that they have carried out important studies on 'science policies in neuropsychiatry', Prof. Tarhan stated that they continue to exchange ideas with scientists on 'treating without making a wound', which is the future of medicine, and that they aim to achieve this as scientists. Prof. Tarhan drew attention to the importance of personalized treatment, phenotyping (Therapeutic drug level monitoring - TDM), the use of neurotechnology tools and ultimately the work of deep learning-oriented artificial intelligence applications independently in each research institute. Tarhan also made evaluations on the human mind and quantum subject.

Reflective and quantum receiver mind...

Pointing out that the quantum receptor aspect of the human mind and the relativity of time have been proven with the latest developments in the quantum field, Prof. Tarhan stated that the studies in the quantum field are 'a reflective mind, a quantum receptive mind' and that science is a field that echoes as the quantum receiver of the consciousness of the human mind. Prof. Tarhan also underlined that with the developments in this field, this is calculable and measurable.

Deep learning modeled classification and outcomes in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were discussed...

Within the scope of the N20 Summit, Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel moderated the session titled 'Neurotech Innovation: Cell Therapy, Artificial Intelligence, Nanomedicine & Supercomputing', and Prof. Ergüzel made a presentation titled 'Interpretable AI'. In his presentation, Prof. Ergüzel discussed the deep learning-based diagnostic classification model of structural MR images of 72 clients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and 36 healthy control groups, which have just been completed within the scope of the NP model, and the regional discrimination mapping for the clinical interpretation process with the extracted attributes of the model. Noting that deep learning-based models are especially important for the establishment and interpretation of the algorithmic conceptual communication language between the engineer and the psychiatrist, Ergüzel drew attention to the contribution of the results of the study they conducted in the context of clinical interpretation results with Grad-CAM (Class Activation Map) and LIME (Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations) methods to the literature.

Fırat Tarhan: "We aim to be the pioneer center in the field of brain research."

Speaking at the session titled 'Global Collaboration on Brain Health, Spine Health and Mental Health Research - Focus on Investments in Neurotechnologies' moderated by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital Board of Directors Member Fırat Tarhan discussed the innovative transformation of the first accredited brain hospital NPİSTANBUL together with Üsküdar University from past to present, the studies carried out in its polyclinics, its superiority and innovations that distinguish it from its local and global counterparts. Giving information about the diagnostic methods used for Neurosurgery as a hospital, treatment units, neuromodulation center, occupational therapy and sensory integration clinic, Fırat Tarhan said that they aim to be the pioneer center for Türkiye and other countries in the field of brain research in the next years with their international recognition, scientific partnerships and joint studies with their scientific partner Üsküdar University.

'Global Neuroscience Leaders' Award was presented

Within the scope of the congress, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel and NPİSTANBUL Hospital Health Institutions Director Fırat Tarhan were deemed worthy of the 'Global Neuroscience Leaders' award for their contributions and services in the field of neuroscience.

They will represent Türkiye in Brazil in 2024

Üsküdar University and its science and practice partner NPİSTANBUL Hospital, which was deemed worthy of an award with all its participants, are now preparing to represent Türkiye at the N20 summit to be held in Brazil in 2024.
