Full support to the candidates during university preference days
Üsküdar University carried out counselling simultaneously at 5 campuses for the candidates who wanted to be informed on departments and the university during 2023 University Preferences Days.
The academicians, who welcomed the candidates in the areas for the faculties, supported the decision-making processes of the candidates by answering questions of the future students and explaining the details regarding the profession. Üsküdar University students also communicated one-on-one with the candidates who will make a choice in this process and explained being a university student from the student’s point of view.
"The trend towards popular areas continued this year"
While the preference counselors consisting of 15 people under the leadership of Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş and Education Specialist Ertuğrul Tut supported the candidates in choosing the right field in this process, Tözeniş conveyed her observations as follows: "We observed that some mistakes made by the students during the preference continued. They need to make the choices by considering the order of success, but since the willingness is also important here, there is no mistake in writing these departments in the lower ranks if the departments with a high order of success do not match our order of desire. Sometimes preference mistakes made in this way cause students to study in the departments they do not want. During the preference period, we observed that the candidates' orientation to popular areas continued this year. Instead of being stuck in popular areas, researching professions that may be suitable for their personality characteristics, interests and abilities and considering these alternatives will enable them to do jobs that will be happier in their professional lives.".
"The candidates' enthusiasm seemed to be overwhelmed by their anxiety..."
Üsküdar University Educational Institutions and Guidance Services Manager Education Specialist Ertuğrul Tut stated that they observed that the anxiety levels of the candidates coming this year were slightly higher unlike previous years, they. Tut said and valuated the marathon of preference from the point of view of consultants as follows: "The excitement of being a university student seemed to be suppressed by their concerns due to the current sociological structure and the pessimism of young people about the future. Parents were slightly more questioning about the future of the profession than future students. Therefore, we can say that the preference process has been an intensive interview and information transfer for us consultants in terms of creating a professional image in the minds of the candidates.".
