Süleyman İrvan graduated from the Gazi University School of Journalism and Public Relations, received his master's degree from the University of West Florida, USA in Communication Arts, and his doctorate from the Institute of Social Sciences at Ankara University in Journalism. He worked as an assistant professor at Gazi University Faculty of Communication between 1999-2002 and as an associate professor at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies of Eastern Mediterranean University between 2002-2007. In 2007, he transferred to Faculty of Communication at Akdeniz University. In 2008, Süleyman İrvan received his professorship title. He was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at Eastern Mediterranean University in 2010, where he served for 5 years.
