Kaan YILANCIOĞLU, Ph.D

He was born in Istanbul. He started his higher education at Istanbul University, Department of Chemical Engineering. Afterwards, he continued his higher education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biological Sciences. During his undergraduate education, he participated in research at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Yeditepe University, Çapa Faculty of Medicine. He was accepted to the International Molecular Medicine master's program at Charité Faculty of Medicine, Germany, and started his master's degree at the Department of Molecular Biology, Genetics and Bioengineering at Sabancı University with a full scholarship.He successfully graduated from his education with his master's thesis on apoptotic cell signaling pathways induced by specific chemotherapeutic molecules in colon cancer cells. He completed his doctorate at Sabancı University with a thesis on the genetic, physiological and biotechnological evaluation of microorganisms for the production of recyclable and sustainable energy sources in the field of biotechnology. During his doctorate education, he conducted studies on drug interactions and multi-drug-resistant bacteria at the University of Toronto. He has scientific studies published in the field of cancer biology, molecular phylogenetics and biodiversity, as well as scientific articles published in this field. After his doctorate, he did postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Tufts University. He worked as Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School Deputy Director and Deputy Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty. Yılancıoğlu, who is still the Deputy Director of the Addiction and Forensic Sciences Institute and the Head of the Department of Chemical-Biological Engineering, received the title of Associate Professor in 2020.
Fluent in English, Dr. Yılancıoğlu continues his scientific studies in the fields of forensic sciences, forensic genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacology (drug interactions), microbiology (multi-drug resistant pathogenic microorganisms), molecular phylogenetics and biodiversity, cancer biology, systems biology.
In addition to his academic and scientific studies, he is one of the founding partners of SynVera Medicine R&D Medical Biotechnology company established in GOSB TEKNOPARK. Within this company, studies on synergistic drug combinations continue  to be carried out regarding patent studies and t scientific studies based on innovative and technology production in the medical field.
