Feride Zeynep GÜDER, Ph.D

Feride Zeynep Güder was born in Antakya and finished her primary and secondary education in Kırıkhan, Hatay. Upon completing her studies at Çukurova University, HMK Faculty of Education in 1988, she began her teaching career in Erzincan and Erzurum. She graduated from Atatürk University, Department of English Language and Education, in 1994. She started working as an English teacher in Ankara and Istanbul from 1994 to 1997. Following a year of teaching at Trakya University, Faculty of Education, in 1997, she continued her career at Istanbul Kültür University, Department of Foreign Languages, until 2016. In 2004, she earned her master's degree in the Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul Kültür University, presenting a thesis on "Critical Reading," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nebile Direkçigil. In 2012, she earned her doctorate from the journalism department of Istanbul University, presenting her thesis titled "Political Humor in Political Communication: A Case Study; An Examination of Semih Balcıoğlu's Güle Güle İstanbul Cartoons," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nurdoğan Rigel. From 2006 to 2010, she participated in amateur photography and documentary projects, having been trained at the Galata Photography Academy. In 2018, she attained the position of associate professor in the discipline of communication studies. She continues her role as a professor at Üsküdar University in the New Media and Communication and English Translation and Interpreting departments where she instructs courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Additionally, she holds various administrative positions as the Director of the Solution-Oriented Women's Studies Center (ÜSÇÖZÜM) at Üsküdar University and the coordinator of the New Media and Urban Research Group. Her courses include "Critical Digital Literacy," "Critical AI Literacy," "Cross-cultural Communication," "Digital Media and Translation," "Digital Culture," "Discourse Analysis," "Language, Society and Culture," "Literature, Society and Culture," "Memory and Culture in New Media Ecology," "Techno-culture and Critical Reading," "Communication Theories," "Urban Sociology," "Urban and Social Memory," "Intercultural Communication," "Media and Truth," "Media and Ideology," "Postmodernism," and "Political Communication." In 2013, during the CIM conference in the USA, she received the "Best Presentation Paper" award. Following that, at the international conference organized by HSSMR in Barcelona in 2020, she was honored with the "Best Paper" prize. Güder has written several notable books, including "Language of Persuasion and Media," "Voyeuristic Gaze," "The Last Look at Istanbul," and "Critical Artificial Intelligence Literacy: Epistemological and Neuro-Cognitive Transformations." She translated the book "Foucault, Marxism, and History." She facilitated the academic program "Beyond the Lines." Employing a comprehensive and cross-disciplinary perspective, she emphasizes fundamental areas including digital humanities, digital media, epistemology, and the philosophy of technology. In this academic research domain, she concentrates on areas including algorithmic culture, augmented intelligence, memory, critical AI literacy, trustworthy AI, metacognitive reading strategies, neurocognitive critical epistemology, Neo-Platonism, and political epistemology. She has authored articles, books, and book chapters on both national and international levels in these fields. Güder graduated from Istanbul University AUZEF with a degree in "Philosophy” in 2024, followed by graduation from Anadolu University in "Cultural Heritage and Tourism" and Atatürk University in "Web Design and Coding" in 2025.
