Short CV

Ebubekir Al graduated from Marmara University, the Department of History in 2013. He holds a pedagogical formation certificate. He received his MA degree in Early Modern History from Marmara University, the Institute of Turkic Studies, Department of Turkish History. His master’s thesis, “1720 Sûr-ı Hümâyûn Hazırlıkları ve Organizasyonu” [The preparation and organisation of Sûr-ı Hümâyûn in 1720], concerns the circumcision feast of the Ahmed III era. For 3,5 years, he taught Ottoman Turkish at İSMEK, a branch of the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality that organizes artistic and vocational courses for citizens. He serves as an advisor and reporter to architectural and restoration firms on the restoration of historical artefacts. He teaches Ottoman Turkish and Ottoman Paleography courses at Üsküdar University. His research fields include Ottoman Turkish, Ottoman Empire in the 18th century, history of Ottoman warfare, Ottoman institutions in the pre-Tanzimat era, and Ottoman architecture.
