Çiğdem YAZICI, Ph.D

Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Yazıcı graduated from Boğaziçi (Bosphorous) University by receiving her BA in Philosophy in 2000 and her MA in Philosophy in 2003, with a thesis on Socratic Daimon and Wisdom. In 2010, she received her Ph.D. in Philosophy in the University of Memphis, (USA, TN), with a dissertation on Heidegger’s ideas of work of art and historical being. During her Ph.D., she worked as a TA and she received also a graduate certificate degree in Women’s and Gender Studies in the University of Memphis. Between 2010 and 2016, she took her first academic position as Assist. Prof. at Koç University, Istanbul, in the Department of Philosophy. As of 2016-2017, she took a new position of Assist. Prof. at Üsküdar University, Istanbul, in the Department of Philosophy. Here, she became Associated Professor in 2018 and Full Professor in 2023.  Her research and teaching areas cover mostly the 20th Century European Philosophy, Gender, Philosophy of Art, Critical Thinking, Ancient Philosophy, and Ethics.
