Abdullah KARATAY, Ph.D (Part Time)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Karatay, the Head of the Social Work department, was born in Diyarbakır, in 1962. He graduaded from Hacettepe University, Social Work Department in 1986. He has been a long serving social worker for about 22 years with a particular focus on children living or working on the streets, migrant population and urban poor. His well known doctoral dissertation is about the "Institutionalization of Child Protection Policy" in Turkey. He is a member of CIF Turkey and International (Council of International Fellowship) since 1994 and still is an active member of CIF Turkey. He coordinated a European Union supported project on disadvantaged families and children working on the street in association with Lithuania, Estonia and Italy.
