11th International Communication Days begins…

International Communication Days, which will be held for the 11th time this year, will be held with the main theme of "Digital Inequality and Data Colonialism". Between May 15-17, 2024, the 11th edition will last for 3 days. 50 sessions will be held, and 250 papers will be presented at the International Communication Days Digital Inequality and Data Colonialism Symposium.

Üsküdar University 11th International Communication Days is getting ready to host experts in their fields. The symposium, where this year's main theme is determined as "Digital Inequality and Data Colonialism", will have expert speakers from national and international universities.

The symposium will open on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, with the speeches of Üsküdar University Advisor to the Rector Prof. Süleyman İrvan, Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör and President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan.

Invited speakers to the 11th Communicaitron Days opening conference who will make a speech in the session moderated by İstanbul Bilgi University faculty member Prof. Halil Nalçaoğlu are as follows: Goldsmiths, University of London Prof. Natalie Fenton, Ankara University Prof. Haluk Geray,  Professor Emeritus Ümit Atabek. Invited speakers in the morning session of the symposium moderated by Üsküdar University Assoc. Prof. Bahar Muratoğlu Pehlivan to be held on May 16, Thursday are as follows: London School of Economics Prof. Nick Couldry, State University of Newyork Prof. Ulises A. Mejias, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Prof. Tuğba Asrak Hasdemir and Moscow State University Prof. Elena Vartanova.

The sessions, which will be held in English, will be simultaneously translated and broadcast live on Üsküdar University Television (ÜÜTV) and YouTube channels at the same time.

The symposium, which will last for three days, will take place in 50 sessions. The symposium will discuss various aspects of digital inequality and data colonialism. The last session of the symposium, in which the gains and losses of digitalization that we are involved and has spread to all textures of life will be discussed in details and problems and solutions will be attempted to be put forward, will be held as a Round Table Session under the moderation of Prof. Süleyman İrvan with the participation of experts and academicians in the communication and media sector.

On Friday, May 17, Journalist Emre Kızılkaya, Journalist Füsun Nebil, Writer Ümit Alan, Koç University Assoc. Prof. Suncem Koçer, Bahçeşehir University Assoc. Prof. Can Ertuna, Üsküdar University Assoc. Prof. Gül Esra Atalay, Journalist Dr. Sarphan Uzunoğlu and Üsküdar University Assoc. Prof. Bahar Muratoğlu Pehlivan will attend the Round Table session moderated by Prof. Süleyman İrvan.

The abstracts of all the papers to be presented at the symposium and then the full texts will be published as a book and shared with the public. Moreover, all sessions of the symposium will be recorded and archived on the symposium website and will be accessible to all interested circles.
