Family Counseling is among the most popular occupations



Family Counseling Graduate Program within the Institute of Social Sciences of Üsküdar University has started accepting students. Those who have completed their undergraduate studies in the fields of social work, psychology, sociology, psychological counseling and guidance, medicine, nursing and child development will be able to apply to the program.

Üsküdar University Department of Psychology Faculty Member and AİLEMER Director Asst. Prof. Mert Akcanbaş emphasized the importance of supporting family problems and family counseling profession in today's world. He pointed out that the main task of this field is to prevent negative situations without initiating any problems.

Well-equipped family counselors are being trained

Asst. Prof. Mert Akcanbaş stated that they started accepting students to the Family Counseling Graduate Program within the Institute of Social Sciences. He emphasized that they aim to train experts within the framework of ethical standards that have the ability to correctly evaluate family relations and structure. Akcanbaş stated that together with the strong academic staff of Üsküdar University, they have established a Master's Program to train competent Family Counselors who will treat individual and social problems in different cultures.
 
There are courses for both counseling and academic career

Asst. Prof. Mert Akcanbaş emphasized that they have prepared a Family Counseling Master Program for students that will work in family therapy, counseling applications, as well as a program for those who have academic career goals. He stated that those who have completed a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, psychological counseling and guidance, medicine, nursing and child development can apply to this program.

Wide area of work opportunities

Asst. Prof. Mert Akcanbaş gave information about job opportunities in this profession and remarked the following; “Individuals who have the title of Family Counselors can work in family health related public institutions, non-governmental organizations, family health centers, universities, the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice and private institutions and organizations affiliated to these ministries, private family counseling centers, units will work as a ‘Family Counselor’.”
