Özgün Deniz YOLDAŞLAR, Ph.D.

Özgün Deniz Yoldaşlar is an Assistant Professor of History in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University. After completing his undergraduate and graduate studies in history at  Middle East Technical University and Sabancı University respectively, Yoldaşlar earned his doctoral degree in 2021 with a dissertation entitled “Minkārīzāde Yahyā and the Ottoman Scholarly Bureaucracy in the Seventeenth Century,” which he prepared under the supervision of Derin Terzioğlu at Boğaziçi University. He spent the 2018-2019 academic year as a visiting researcher at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) with a scholarship from TÜBİTAK. Some of the courses offered by Yoldaşlar, who specializes in early modern Ottoman History, include “History of Thought from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic I,” “Istanbul: The City of Civilizations and Culture” and “Ottoman Historical Sources.”
