Prof. İsmet Teoman BENLİ was born in Isparta in 1963. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and graduated from Ankara Science High School in 1980. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1986 and completed his compulsory service in Bartın SSI Hospital in 1987. In the same year, he started his specialization in the First Orthopedics and Traumatology within SSI Ankara Dışkapı Education and Research Hospital in the field of Orthopedics and Traumatology and completed it in January 1992. He received spinal surgery education at the Texas Scottish Riti Hospital in Dallas, USA. Additionally, he participated in courses on Spine Surgery and Arthroplasty in Seoul, South Korea, in Paris, Nice and Berk Surmare, France, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in New York and Detroit, the USA, in Naples, Italy, Lugano and Zurich, Switzerland, in Madrid, Spain and worked as an observer for 3 months in Paris and Montpellier, France and Detroit Port Huron, the USA. In 1995, he received the title of Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, and in 2006, he was appointed as Professor at Ufuk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. For 3 years, he served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Chief Physician of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Rıdvan Ege Hospital at the same university. Between 2015 and 2017, he served as the president of the Turkish Spine Association (TOD). He served as the Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine in Okan University between 2016-2018. Prof. İ. Teoman Benli has a total of 29 articles in English in group A foreign journals, 4 of which are included in the "SCI core" list, "SCI Expended" and "PubMed", 49 articles in journals published in English in Türkiye, around 50 Turkish articles in journals published in Turkish, papers and verbal presentations in 36 international congresses, around 100 national congresses and symposiums. He has edited 14 books, 2 English and 36 Turkish book chapters and has translated 6 chapters in Translation Books. In 2022, his last book "Orthopedic and Traumatological Emergencies" (TOTBİD Publications, Karınca, Ankara, 2022) was published. Between 2009 and 2011, he served as the Chairman of TOTEK Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialty Qualification Examination Commission. He is married and a father of one child.
