Güner SÖNMEZ, MD

He was born in Elazığ, 1970. After he completed his primary and secondary school education in Elazığ, he got into the GATA Faculty of Medicine in the university admission exam. After Sönmez completed his medical education, he was assigned as chief doctor to Kırklareli-Babaeski Military Infirmary. He began to his medical specialty education in the field of Radio diagnostics in Haydarpaşa Education Hospital in 1996. He received education on fluoroscopy, direct roentgen, ultrasonography, colored doppler ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography and interventional radiology during his medical specialty education.  He became a specialist by preparing his thesis on “Magnetic Resonance Imagine in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome” in 1999.  He works as Radiology Service Chief and radiology specialist in Ağrı Military Hospital between 1999-2004 and in TRNC Girne Military Hospital between 2004-2005. He assigned as chief assistant to GATA Education Hospital in 2005. He got the title of associate professor in the field of Radio Diagnostic in the exam he entered in January, 2009. He worked as faculty member and deputy of service chief in the same hospital between 2009-2015.  He got the title of professor in 2015.
He has 121 articles published on international journals, 22 articles published on national journals, 41 international verbal academic papers-posters, 43 verbal academic papers-posters, 9 published books. He still is interested in areas such as head and neck radiology, abdominal radiology, breast imaging and interventional radiological procedures.
