The first of the Rights series event was held by our department club. A seminar was given on the subject of "Human Rights".
A seminar was held on case studies in the field of forensic social work.
Üsküdar University, Globalization and Youth Problems Application and Research Center (KÜGEMER) organized the “GSH Talks” event. Prof. from the Department of Social Services. Dr. Abdullah Karatay, Dr. Instructor Member Abdulhakim Beki, Dr. Instructor Member Yüksel Bekaroğlu Doğan and Dr. Faculty Member Melike Boztilki took part as a speaker. The event, which was held in the Emir Nebi Conference Hall of the Çarşı Campus, was followed with great interest by the students.
A seminar on communication with disabled individuals was given by Halis Kuralay, Istanbul Deputy Provincial Director of the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Information and experience were shared about what needs to be considered for effective communication with disabled individuals.
The "Children's Right to Protection" conference organized by Üsküdar University Social Work Department was held online. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Humanist Bar Association Founder Lawyer Seda Akço Bilen attended the event moderated by İsmail Barış, head of Social Work Department.In the conference, where the state facilities provided to families in child care, child abuse, the processes of intervention to abuse and its consequences were discussed, evaluations were made on the punishments given to the perpetrators as a result of abuse and the privatization of social services.
On the occasion of the 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day, a panel titled "Recent History Talks from Çanakkale 1915 to Russia" was held. As a panelist in the program, Sakarya University Department of History Faculty Member and Founding Director of Turkish-Armenian Relations Research Center Prof. Dr. Haluk SELVI and Üsküdar University Department of Political Science and International Relations Dr. Instructor Member Fehmi AĞCA.
The opening speech was made by Üsküdar University Founding Rector and psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan. Panelists are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman Doğan from Yıldız Technical University Humanities and Social Sciences Department and Prof. Dr. Ergün Yıldırım from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Sociology Department. In the online panel moderated by journalist Şaban Özdemir, the poet of Independence Mehmet Akif Ersoy was discussed in the context of "From Tradition to the Future: Asım's Generation and Globalization".
The seminar was held online via Zoom. Prof. Dr. Abdullah KARATAY talked about being elderly and Social Worker Yusuf Adem UZUN inform about social work practices for the elderly and psychology of elderly. In the last session, Dr. Yüksel BEKAROĞLU DOĞAN presented about Age Discrimination in the Example of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
