Perfusion - Academic Activities

A department seminar was held on 16 June 2022 as the Perfusion Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The event was held via Zoom between 19:00-20:00.Science Specialist Perfusionist Nihal Kolbaş from Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital gave enlightening information about “Minimal Extracorporeal Circulatory Systems” to the students.Mentioning that it is more advantageous to use Minimal extracorporeal circulation systems (MECC) instead of conventional extracorporeal circulation (CECC), Kolbaş said that MECC causes fewer complications, shorter ACT time, less blood and blood products are needed, foreign surface contact is minimized, He said that lower levels of stochin were detected in the postoperative period and the hospital stay was shorter compared to other systems.Üsküdar University SBF. ECMO training was given to the students of the Perfusion Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences on 16 June 2022. To 3rd year students, Prof. Dr. Practical training was organized by Ali Kocailik within the scope of "Extracorporeal Support Systems II" course.

ECMO training was given to the students of the Perfusion Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences on June 7, 2022. 3rd grade students in groups of 30 students in Intrusive Support Systems II course. Dr. A practical training was organized by Ali Kocailik in Emir Nebi 2 hall between 10:00 and 16:00.

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimler Fakültesi tarafından “Üsküdar Perfüzyon Günleri – II” etkinliği gerçekleştirildi. Etkinlikte, Perfüzyon bölümü son sınıf öğrencilerinin mezuniyet projesi kapsamında hazırladıkları sunumlar ve perfüzyon hakkında güncel bilgiler konuşuldu. Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rektör Yardımcısı Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Dekanı Prof. Dr. A. Aktuğ Ertekin ve Perfüzyon Bölüm Başkanı Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Zehra Akgün etkinlikte konuşmacı olarak yer aldı. Üsküdar Perfüzyon Günleri etkinliğinin amacına değinen Akgün; “Bu programın amacı 4. Sınıf öğrencilerinin mezuniyet projesi kapsamında hazırladıkları ödevleri sunmak ve güncel bilgileri paylaşmaktır. Yapılan bu etkinlikte hedefimiz bilgi alışverişinde bulunmak, sahada çalışan perfüzyonistlerle öğrencilerimizi tanıştırmak, diğer üniversitelerde okuyan öğrencilerle buluşmak ve dostluklar kurulmasına fırsat vermektir. Perfüzyon günleri Üsküdar Üniversitesinde artık geleneksel hale gelmiştir. İlerleyen yıllarda öğrenci kongresi, sempozyum ve panellerle karşınızda olmak ve daha büyük organizasyonlara imza atmak istiyoruz.” ifadelerini kullandı. Bu tür etkinliklerin öğrenciler içi çok önemli olduğunu vurgulayan Ertekin; “İnsan yaşamı uzadıkça kalple ilgili işlemlere desteklerin daha çok gereksinim duyulması tabi ki kaçınılmaz bir olaydır. Ben burada öncelikle bize katılım sağlayan rektör yardımcıma, değerli öğretim üyesi arkadaşlarımıza, kıymetli konuklarımıza ve çok sevgili öğrencilerimize teşekkür ediyorum. 4’üncü sınıf öğrencilerimizden sunum yapacak olan arkadaşlarımıza şimdiden başarılar diliyorum ve tebrik ediyorum. Öğrencilik yıllarında bu tür bilimsel etkinliklerin içinde var olmak gerçekten çok güzel. Çünkü inanıyorum ki içinizden birçok arkadaşımız ilerleyen dönem içerisinde akademi camiasında yer alıp bilginin, eğitimin, kültürün ilerlemesinde büyük katkılar sağlayacaklardır. Bu etkinliklere destek veren herkese teşekkürler.” dedi. Kalp cerrahisinden söz eden Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak; “Kalp cerrahisi deyice perfüzyonu konuşmamak olmaz. Bütün organların geçmişi var ama hastalıklar itibariyle kalp hastalıklarının da çok eskilere dayanan bir tarihi var. Kalp, eski dönemlerde Mısırlılarda duyguların ve heyecanın merkezi olarak kabul edilmiş. Hristiyanlıkta kutsal sayılmıştır. Kalp de bir organ ve onun da hastalıkları var. Her zaman yol düz değil, asfalt değil. Neyle karşılaşacağımızı bilmiyoruz. Bütün cerrahi bölümlerde hikayeler çok farklı, heyecanlı ve hayret vericidir. Kalp cerrahisi de onlardan biridir.” şeklinde konuştu. Etkinlik toplamda 4 oturumda gerçekleşti. Oturum başkanlığını Prof. Dr. Ali Kocailik ve Öğr. Gör. Oturum başkanlığını Prof. Dr. Osman Sulak ve Öğr. Gör. İsmail Yerli’nin üstlendiği 2. oturumda Merve Poyraz “Kardiyoplumoner Bypassta Antikoagülanlar”, Buket Işık Daloğlu “Kardiyoplumoner Bypass Sırasında Hipotermi Uygulaması”, Tevfik Arslan “Santral ve Periferik Kanülasyonun Serebral Dolaşıma Etkisi”, Gülşen Tuncer “Ototransfüzyon” başlıklı sunumlarını gerçekleştirdi. Oturum başkanlığını Doç. Dr. Onur Gürer ve Öğr. Gör. Tolga Öztemel’in üstlendiği 3. oturumda Hilal Tonyalı “Minimal İnvaziv Kalp Cerrahisinde Perfüzyon”, Buğra Taha Kutluay “Minimal İnvaziv Kalp Cerrahisinde Kanülasyon”, Fatmanur Kabadayı “Minimal İnvaziv Kalp Cerrahisinde Vakum Destekli Venöz Drenaj”, Sinem Şerif “Minimal Ekstrakorporeal Dolaşım Devresi (MECC)” başlıklı sunumlarını gerçekleştirdi. Oturumun başkanlığını Bilim Uzmanı Nihal Kolbaş ve Bilim Uzmanı Mücahit Ergin’in üstlendiği son oturumda ise Yiğitcan Tekneci “Derin Hipotermik Sirkulatuar Arrest ve Antegrad Selektif Serebral Perfüzyon”, Şevval Eröztekin “Torakotomi ve Sternotomiyle Yapılan Kalp Cerrahisinde Kardiyopleji Stratejileri”, Asiye Akyılmaz “Gebelerde Perfüzyon”, Hilal Aygün “Yetişkinlerde DelNido Kardiyopleji” başlıklı sunumlarını gerçekleştirildi.

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Perfusion Department activities continue. On May 25, 2022, our guest was Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Kocak; He gave a seminar on "Perfusion History". The developments in cardiac surgery from 1896 to the present are explained in detail. Our teacher enlightened our students in the seminar about the first heart surgery in the world and in Turkey, the discovery of the Heart-Lung machine, ventricular support systems, heart transplantation, the use of ECMO, hemofiltration, robotic surgery, port systems, stem cells, genotherapy. We would like to thank our teacher who participated in our event held online via Zoom for her efforts and contributions.

The seminar on "Ideal Mechanical System in Perfusion" was held on 17 May 2022 as Perfusion Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Scientist-Perfusionist Resul Çalış from Göztepe Training and Research Hospital attended the event. In the seminar; occlusion and calibration settings, console and roller pump connections, roller pump modules, automatic calculation of patient cardiac index, tubing line flow rates, roller pump operating system, level control system, buble sensor, vacuum system connections, cardioplegia, pressure, time counter and temperature modules, battery features, data data system. As Üsküdar University, we would like to thank our professor for his support and time spent in the Perfusion department.

On May 11, 2022, the department seminar of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Perfusion was held. Istanbul Bakırköy Dr. Scientist-Perfusionist Tolga Öztemel from Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital. The topic of "Online Monitoring" was discussed in the seminar. Information was given on the monitoring of many numerical and subjective data such as vital signs, mechanical ventilation, blood gases, cannulation evaluation, hemodynamic and biochemical parameters, flow and pressure controls, coagulation. As Üsküdar University Perfusion Department, we would like to thank our teacher for his support and contributions.

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Perfusion Department spring semester department event was held on April 13, 2022.The seminar held via Zoom was attended by Science experts Lecturer. grv. Tarik Demir and Lecturer grv. Ismail Yerli attended.Tarık Demir on “Perfusion preparation before Pediatric Cardiac Surgery”, İsmail Yerli on “Perfusion preparation before Adult Cardiac Surgery”offered a comprehensive seminar to undergraduate and graduate students.As the perfusion department, we would like to thank the participants who answered the questions of the students for their support.

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Perfusion Department activities continue.On December 20, 2021, at 18:00, an episode event was held on zoom.Chest Diseases and Allergy Diseases Specialist from Çakmak Erdem Hospital. A seminar on "Respiratory Function Tests" was given by M. Levent Safali.As Üsküdar University, we would like to thank Mr. Safali for his contributions to the seminar, which was very useful.

SBF via zoom on January 28, 2022 at 18:00. Department activity was carried out as the Perfusion Department.To the event, Dr. PhD student from Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospitalperfusionist Mustafa EREN attended. Sharing his experiences in the seminar on "Academic steps in perfusion"Science Specialist EREN answered the questions of the students.As Üsküdar University, we would like to thank our teacher for giving us time.

Perfusion section event was held on 13 December 2021 at 18:00. Scientist Perfusionist Resul Çalış from Göztepe Training and Research Hospital attended this week's seminar. Information on Percutaneous Hepatic Perfusion-chemosaturation in isolated organ chemotherapy is given. We would like to thank Resul Calis for his contribution to providing a comprehensive seminar on the purpose of Percutaneous Hepatic Perfusion, pre-procedure preparation, isolation, saturation, filtration, indications, contraindications, and complications.

On 23 November 2021, at 18:00, Perfusionists Association President and Board Member, Science Specialist Doğanay ÖNAL attended the department event. In the event held under the name of "Ask the President" via Zoom;  Perfusion Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences about the establishment, purpose, history of the Perfusionists Association, the advantages of the Perfusionists Association, the scholarships, employment opportunities, accreditation process, European Board,Illuminating information was given to the students of the Graduate Program of the Institute of Health Sciences.We thank Mr. ÖNAL on behalf of Üsküdar University and Perfusion Department students.
