What is Department of Cartoon and Animation? 

The Department of Cartoon and Animation has a structure that combines theory and practice and is open to interaction with different disciplines in the field of communication. The department, where science and art unite under the same roof, supports the communication science's ability to build bridges between the past, present and future in the best way. The Department of Cartoon and Animation, where theoretical knowledge in the field of communication is supported by practical training, aims to train qualified academic staff and well-equipped professionals who can take charge in many different positions in the sector.

Cartoons and animation stand out as a field that is needed in many different business lines and service industries, especially in communication in our age where digital communication technologies take root in daily life practices. Considering the high potential of the cartoon and animation department, Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication acts with the mission of raising academics and professionals who will produce successful studies in the field of communication.

What are the Courses Taken in the Department of Cartoon and Animation? 

The Department of Cartoon and Animation cooperates with other departments of the communication faculty. The courses in the first year curriculum of the department mainly aim to provide students with a basic social science and communication science background. Practical courses are also included in the department starting from the second year. In the third and fourth grades, the curriculum mainly consists of practical courses.
The curriculum takes attention with its curriculum from general to specific, from theory to practice, from compulsory to elective. Starting from the third year, the student starts to take faculty and university elective courses as well as departmental electives. Students of the Cartoon and Animation (CFA) Department can also choose courses from other departments of the faculty. In order to reinforce the education given at the school with sector experience, students are also provided with internships in the field of cartoons and animation in various institutions and organizations. Internship practice is also considered important in terms of cooperation between the university and the sector.

Students who graduate from the department have the chance to work in different positions in the business world and to head towards academia. In addition, one of the reasons for the increase in the need for cartoon and animation students is the development of the game world in recent years and the increasing interest in the game world accordingly.
