What is the Cartoon and Animation Department?
The Department of Cartoon and Animation brings theory and practice together, and it is very open to interaction with different disciplines in the field of communication. The department, where science and art come together under the same roof, best supports the ability of communication science to build bridges between the past, present, and future. The Department of Cartoon and Animation, combining theoretical knowledge with practical training, strives to prepare both qualified academic staff and well-equipped professionals for diverse roles within the sector. In today's world, where digital communication technologies have become ubiquitous in daily life, cartoons and animation have emerged as a crucial field in various business lines and service sectors, particularly in communication. Our department's mission is to train academics and professionals who will produce successful works in communication, taking into account the field's high potential.
What are the Courses in the Cartoon and Animation Undergraduate Program?
The first year of the Cartoon and Animation Department curriculum includes introductory-level applied courses as well as courses that aim to provide students with a basic social science and communication sciences background. Starting in the second year, there are more intensive applied courses. In their third and fourth grades, students have a diverse pool of elective courses to choose from, enabling them to specialize in their desired field. Elective courses consist of a wide range of topics, including Storyboarding Techniques, 3D Rigging, Artificial Intelligence in Animation and Stop-motion Workshop. In addition, students can choose courses from other departments of the faculty and have the opportunity to improve themselves in different areas of communication science. Furthermore, during their senior year, students prepare their graduation projects. In order to reinforce the education at the university with industry experience, students are provided with internship opportunities in the field of cartoons and animation in various institutions and organizations. Internship practice is also important in terms of cooperation between the university and industry.
