ÜSKÜDAR UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF MEDICINE STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
(2025–2029)


Goal 1: Enhancing the Quality of Medical Education and Training

  • Objective 1.1: To update the medical curriculum in alignment with Bologna Process learning outcomes and to integrate the revised curriculum structure (phases, academic years, blocks, committees, and clerkships) with national and international accreditation standards.
  • Objective 1.2: To expand the use of simulation-based education, skills laboratories, and digital learning resources in preclinical training.
  • Objective 1.3: To further implement the early clinical exposure model, with a focus on patient safety, ethical decision-making, and multidisciplinary teamwork in clinical education.
  • Objective 1.4: To increase medical students’ participation in research activities, community health initiatives, and social responsibility projects.
  • Objective 1.5: To ensure the achievement of learning outcomes through continuous, systematic assessment and evaluation processes.
  • Objective 1.6: To promote student engagement in field-based studies focusing on environmental health and public health.

Goal 2: Strengthening Research and Development Capacity

  • Objective 2.1: To increase faculty members’ participation in research projects supported by national and international funding bodies, including TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB, and the European Union Horizon Program.
  • Objective 2.2: To support and encourage active student involvement in TÜBİTAK 2209-A, 2209-B, and institutional scientific research projects (BAP).
  • Objective 2.3: To increase the proportion of faculty research outputs published in Q1 and Q2 indexed peer-reviewed journals.
  • Objective 2.4: To strengthen translational medicine, public health, and research centers within the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Objective 2.5: To promote interdisciplinary research projects addressing the interrelationship between environmental health, climate change, and infectious diseases.
  • Objective 2.6: To promote leadership models in research projects that are based on gender equality, diversity, and inclusiveness.

Goal 3: Enhancing Stakeholder Collaboration and Social Contribution

  • Objective 3.1: To expand cooperation protocols with the Ministry of Health, public hospitals, and private healthcare institutions.
  • Objective 3.2: To develop a comprehensive graduate tracking system and to implement structured post-graduation career support and continuing professional development programs.
  • Objective 3.3: To conduct community-based screening programs and projects that contribute to the improvement of public health.
  • Objective 3.4: To increase the Faculty’s scientific contribution to evidence-based public policy development processes.
  • Objective 3.5: To provide free public health screening services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations.
  • Objective 3.6: To develop “Sustainable Cities and Health” projects in collaboration with local governments.

Goal 4: Strengthening Internationalization

  • Objective 4.1: To increase student and faculty mobility through international exchange programs.
  • Objective 4.2: To increase the number of international health-related academic and research consortia in which the Faculty holds active membership.
  • Objective 4.3: To diversify English-taught curricula and elective courses offered to international students.
  • Objective 4.4: To integrate global health and sustainability themes into the medical curriculum for international students.
  • Objective 4.5: To establish strategic partnerships with international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNESCO, and similar institutions, in order to increase student participation in internships, field placements, and research projects.
  • Objective 4.6: To encourage student and faculty participation in national and international scientific activities and to increase the number of international congresses and scientific events organized by the Faculty.

Goal 5: Ensuring Continuous Improvement of Quality Assurance

  • Objective 5.1: To successfully complete accreditation processes in accordance with the standards of TEPDAD and YÖKAK for all educational programs of the Faculty.
  • Objective 5.2: To support faculty development programs, including continuous professional development in educational methodologies and learning technologies.
  • Objective 5.3: To ensure the continuous updating and improvement of digital health record systems, simulation centers, and library resources.
  • Objective 5.4: To enhance energy efficiency and to expand green campus practices within Faculty facilities.
  • Objective 5.5: To plan and develop the university hospital to be established within Üsküdar University in accordance with “Green Hospital” standards, and to implement sustainable practices related to waste management, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Objective 5.6: To establish and publish a peer-reviewed medical journal indexed in national or international databases and to organize a regular medical congress.

Goal 6: Supporting Student and Staff Well-Being

  • Objective 6.1: To expand academic advising, mental health support, and structured mentoring programs for students.
  • Objective 6.2: To support work–life balance and professional development activities for academic, clinical, and administrative staff.
  • Objective 6.3: To promote holistic well-being through sports, artistic, and cultural activities within the Faculty.
  • Objective 6.4: To ensure safe reporting mechanisms and to provide free counseling services for students experiencing harassment, mobbing, or psychological distress.
  • Objective 6.5: To safeguard the well-being of Faculty staff through policies grounded in equality, inclusiveness, and fairness.
