Basic Sciences Knowledge and Biomedical Foundations

1. Explains the normal structure and physiology of the cells, tissues, organs and systems that make up the body.
2. Explains the basic molecules and biochemical mechanisms that play a role in maintaining the body's internal balance.
3. Explains the causes and pathophysiological processes of diseases common in the community.
4. Explains the basic characteristics of microorganisms, the diseases they cause and their mechanisms of action.
5. Explains the basic principles and procedures regarding the use of medical materials.

Clinical Practice and Professional Skills

6. Takes the patient's medical history, performs a physical examination and orders the necessary tests.
7. Accurately evaluates and interprets laboratory tests and imaging results.
8. Makes a differential diagnosis based on physical examination, laboratory and imaging results.
9. Conducts the diagnosis and treatment of the patient accurately and effectively with an evidence-based approach.
10. Intervenes appropriately in situations requiring first and emergency aid.
11. When necessary, refers the patient to the relevant specialties with a multidisciplinary approach.
12. Determines the rehabilitation and palliative care needs of individuals in cases where treatment is not possible.
13. Supports individuals in living a dignified and humane life in end-of-life health care.
14. Develops a holistic understanding of care by considering the spiritual, social and psychological aspects of the people served.

Communication, Professional Conduct and Ethics

15. Has effective communication skills.
16. Using communication skills, informs and guides patients and their relatives about the disease, diagnosis and treatment processes.
17. Respects patient rights and protects patient privacy.
18. Is aware of professional rights and responsibilities; acts in accordance with medical ethics, professional rules and relevant legislation.
19. Is inclined toward teamwork and communicates effectively with different health professionals; approaches problems within the team in a solution-oriented manner and is open to collaboration.
20. When necessary, assumes team leadership, motivates team members and manages them effectively.
21. Attaches importance to patient safety, the confidentiality of patient data, personal safety and the safety of the team.
22. Obtains informed consent from the patient and/or the patient's relatives before necessary medical procedures.

23. Explains the steps of scientific research, applies them when necessary and contributes to scientific studies.

Community Health and Preventive Medicine

28. Explains the basic concepts of preventive medicine; takes an active role in primary and secondary preventive health services.
29. Identifies communicable diseases, reports notifiable diseases to the relevant institutions and carries out vaccination processes.
30. Recognizes groups in the community that are at risk in terms of health and plans appropriate health services for these groups.
31. Supports health literacy; organizes health education programs for the community when necessary.
32. Has knowledge of methods and strategies for health promotion and applies them.
33. Applies the principles of evidence-based medicine in clinical decision-making processes.
