Strategic Goals and Objectives
Quality Culture
As Üsküdar University, we build quality in higher education upon the foundations of respect for human values, scientific competence, adherence to ethical principles, and social responsibility. Our quality culture is not merely a process management model; it is an internalized, sustainable, and adopted lifestyle across all units of the institution.
We approach quality with a continuous improvement mindset in the areas of education, research and development, societal contribution, and governance, executing this methodology collaboratively with all our academic and administrative staff. While establishing our quality assurance system, we adopt a data-driven, stakeholder-inclusive structure that fully aligns with the standards of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK).
At the heart of our quality culture lies:
- Student and stakeholder orientation,
- Effective internal evaluation and continuous improvement,
- Transparency and accountability,
- Institutional learning and development,
- A socially responsive and ethically grounded approach.
We aim to offer an innovative and sustainable educational environment where scientific research is supported and digital transformation is embraced. Together with all our employees and students, we sustain quality not just as a target, but as a core institutional culture.
Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle
The PDCA Cycle (Plan – Do – Check – Act) at Üsküdar University is one of the fundamental cornerstones of our quality assurance system. In order to continuously enhance quality throughout the university, all academic and administrative processes operate based on this cycle.
The PDCA Cycle is implemented at Üsküdar University as follows:
Plan (P)
Üsküdar University systematically plans all its academic and administrative processes in line with its strategic goals and mission.
- Objectives are set in the fields of education, research, and societal contribution.
- Planning is conducted by taking the feedback of internal and external stakeholders into consideration.
- Alignment is ensured with the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) criteria and the internal quality assurance system.
- The strategic plan, academic calendar, performance indicators, and annual activity plans are formulated during this stage.
Do (D)
The planned activities are put into practice by the respective units.
- Curricular applications, research projects, societal contribution events, and student support services are implemented.
- Student-centered approaches are executed in education and training.
- Processes are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and quality standards.
- Activities are performed with clearly defined roles tailored to the job descriptions of academic and administrative personnel.
Check (C)
The effectiveness of the implemented activities and their alignment with the objectives are measured and evaluated.
- Tools such as student satisfaction surveys, academic success metrics, and alumni feedback are utilized.
- Internal and external evaluation reports, self-evaluation processes, and internal audit results are analyzed.
- Performance indicators are monitored.
- Regular monitoring is carried out in all units through internal quality assurance commissions.
Act (A)
Necessary corrective and preventive actions are taken based on the findings obtained.
- Action plans are prepared for areas where targets have not been met.
- Educational programs, administrative processes, and services are revised.
- Quality-enhancing activities are introduced, and the re-planning process is initiated.
- Consequently, the cycle safely transitions back to the "Plan" stage.
