What is Electroneurophysiology Program?
Electroneurophysiology Technology is the scientific field devoted to the recording and study of the electrical activity of the brain and nervous system. Used for medical evaluation and research, includes procedures that evaluate the function of the nervous system. Electroneurophysiology Technicians use a variety of techniques and instruments to record electrical activity that occurs primarily for the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, or somatosensory systems. They perform neurological diagnostic tests in the field of Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electromyography (EMG). They use sensitive electronic diagnostic equipment to record and evaluate the electrical activity of patients' central and peripheral nervous systems to assist doctors in diagnosing diseases, injuries, and abnormalities. The Electroneurophysiology Program is designed to provide you with a strong foundation in theory and practical work experience while training you in using specialized equipment to access information about the health of the nervous system. Electroneurophysiology technicians use sensitive electronic diagnostic equipment to record and evaluate the electrical activity of patients' central and peripheral nervous systems to assist physicians in diagnosing diseases, injuries, and abnormalities.

It is a two-year, full-time diploma program.

What is the Purpose of the Electroneurophysiology Program?
It aims to provide knowledge and skills about the analysis of cognitive and behavioral functions in the brain and the use of neurophysiological methods necessary for the detection of diseases that occur with the deterioration of these functions. Students who graduate from the Electroneurophysiology Program can work as Electroneurophysiology technicians in Electroneurophysiology Laboratories in public hospitals, private hospitals and private clinics under the supervision of Neurology, Psychiatry, ENT, Chest Diseases, Pediatrics and Physiology specialists.

Electroneurophysiology technicians generally:

Explains the procedure and prepares patients for neuro-diagnostic testing.

It provides medical history information related to the interpretation of test results.

Applies the electrodes to predetermined, measured locations on the patient's head and/or other parts of the body.

Operates neurodiagnostic test equipment.

Provides care and assistance to patients during procedures.

Prepares test results for interpretation by doctors.

Maintains equipment and fixes technical problems.

They can provide guidance, training, and orientation to other electroneurophysiology technician staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.

In addition to theoretical lessons, our students carry out their field application studies in Üsküdar University Vocational School Electroneurophysiology Laboratory. They do the compulsory Summer Internship in the field during the first or second year summer term.

What are the Courses Taken in the Electroneurophysiology Program?
Theoretical and applied courses are given to our students in order to increase their professional development. In addition, our students take classes such as Positive Psychology and Communication Skills, Project Culture and Entrepreneurship, Career Planning, Professional Competencies and Social Responsibility from our course pool, and take classes that increase awareness, consciousness and vision gains.

Thanks to its multidisciplinary and innovative perspective, which targets the advantages brought by new technologies, our university offers not only diagnostic but also Cerebral (Motor) Cortex, Cortical, Peripheral Nerve, Subcutaneous Peripheral Field, Transcranial Direct Current, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS or rTMS), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS or rTMS), Transcranial It provides theoretical possibilities for neuromodulatory treatments such as Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Trigeminal Nerve and Vagus (Vagal) Nerve Stimulation.

What are the Working Areas of the Graduates of the Electroneurophysiology Program?
Electroneurophysiology technicians conduct Electroneuromyography-EMG, Electroencephalography-EEG, Polysomnography-PSG, Intraoperative Neuromonitoring-IONM and Evoked Potential-UP examinations, develop examination protocols according to the obtained data and discuss the results with the physician. Electromyography supports the physician during intraoperative monitoring practices. Electroneurophysiology technicians conduct Electroneuromyography-EMG, Electroencephalography-EEG, Polysomnography-PSG, Intraoperative Neuromonitorization-IONM and Evoked Potential-UP examinations in the field, and support the physician during intraoperative monitoring applications based on the obtained data, using various diagnostic methods of Electroneurophysiology.

Electroneurophysiology technicians may work shifts or work standard weekday hours and be "on duty" in the evenings and on weekends. They spend most of their working time standing and may need to do some bending and lifting to help very sick patients. Electroneurophysiology technicians should follow standard safety, electrical safety, and infection control precautions. In some cases, bedside trolleys may be required to transport equipment in wards, intensive care units, and operating rooms. Electroneurophysiology technicians should enjoy working with such devices because they spend a lot of time with computers and electronic devices. They often work in a poorly lit or dark treatment room. Exposure to biohazardous materials, radioactive isotopes, and chemical hazards can occur from time to time.

Our university encourages its students in domestic and international supported scientific research (such as TÜBİTAK student projects) in order to instill the vision of project and entrepreneurship in its students.
