Who is a Podologist?

As a graduate of the two-year podology program; it is a qualified health professional who provides services for the protection and care of individuals’ foot health and, when necessary, performs foot treatment and care of patients depending on the diagnosis and treatment of the relevant specialist physician.

What is the Purpose of the Podology Program?

The aim of Üsküdar University Podology Program is to train qualified health professionals who have gained the necessary knowledge and skills to protect foot health and prevent diseases that may occur, and who can work in cooperation with physicians.



What are the Duties, Authorities and Responsibilities of Graduates of Podology Program?

Takes part in efforts to raise awareness on foot health and protection.

In healthy individuals; performs medical foot care and provides training on this subject.

Depending on the diagnosis and referral for treatment by the relevant specialist physician; performs nail prosthesis applications, bandages, finger pads and foot supports, and takes part in the evaluation, prevention and treatment of foot health problems, nail pathologies and calluses.

What are the courses in the Podology Program?

In the first year of the Podology Program, there are basic courses such as Basic Anatomy, Physiology, Podology I, Basic Pharmacology, Microbiology and Parasitology, Medical Terminology, Positive Psychology and Communication Skills, University Culture I, Turkish Language I, Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution I, English I, Podology II, Infectious Diseases, Lower Extremity Neurology, Foot Orthopedics, Diabetes and Foot Health I, University Culture II, Turkish Language II, Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution II and English II; in the second year, some theoretical and practical courses such as Foot Skin Diseases, Diabetes and Foot Health II, First Aid, Physical Therapy Rehabilitation and Orthotics, Podology III, Sports Podology, Sterilization Principles, Holistic Approach to Foot and Nail Diseases, Podology IV, Public Health, Professional Ethics and Business Management are given. In addition to these theoretical and practical courses, students do a 20-day compulsory summer internship at the end of the 1st or 2nd year.





You can transfer to an undergraduate program with Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS)

Students who graduate from the Podology Program; by being successful in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS), they can continue their undergraduate programs in Emergency and Disaster Management, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing and Health Management.

What are the Working Areas of Podology Program Graduates?

Graduates of the program can work as podologists in private health institutions or state hospitals. There are opportunities to work in different fields (such as orthopedics, dermatology, diabetology, sports medicine and elderly care) where foot problems may occur for various reasons. They also have job opportunities as foot health consultant, salesperson and distribution specialist in companies that produce foot health devices.
