The Medical Skills Laboratory is an advanced practical training center designed to enable future healthcare professionals to practice the clinical interventions, patient care protocols, and examination techniques they will need in their professional lives in a safe, simulated environment.

What is the Medical Skills Laboratory? / What is its Purpose?

Primary Objective: The primary objective of the Medical Skills Laboratory is to ensure that students of our University's Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO), particularly students in the Department of Nursing, fully perform the practical applications of the theoretical training they receive in their courses starting from the first year.

Key Features: Our laboratory serves as a bridge that enhances students' technical knowledge and manual skills to the highest possible level before they begin clinical practice. At the end of each course requiring practical training and hands-on skills, practical simulations related to the subject are conducted in this laboratory under the supervision of expert faculty members and in full accordance with the content of the relevant professional courses.

Academic Contribution: Developing patient care skills through hands-on practice on anatomical models and using high-quality medical equipment in the laboratory before entering the clinical environment is critically important for the quality of education. In this way, students gain a high level of professional confidence while minimizing the margin of error before undertaking actual clinical practices in hospitals.

Equipment and Technical Infrastructure Available in the Laboratory

The laboratory is equipped with the following equipment meeting industry and academic standards, enabling practical training aligned with the content of professional courses to be conducted in a realistic manner:

  • Fully Functional Patient Care Manikins (Simulators): Adult and pediatric anatomical manikins used for hands-on practice in physical examination, positioning, bed-based care, and basic nursing interventions.
  • Physical Examination and Health Assessment Kits: Stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, and examination equipment used for monitoring vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration) and practicing physical assessment techniques.
  • Clinical Care and Interventional Practice Materials: Consumables and medical equipment commonly used in clinical practice, including sterile gloves, dressing sets, injection equipment, and intravenous access simulation devices.
  • Patient Beds and Positioning Units: Highly maneuverable patient beds and transfer equipment designed to replicate the ergonomics of an actual clinical ward.
