Üsküdar University provides a socially beneficial and sustainable scientific production environment through a research and development (R&D) approach centered on knowledge generation and dissemination. Across all academic units, research processes are structured in alignment with the University’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.
R&D Activities and Objectives (1/2)
The Institute’s research strategies and objectives are aligned with the University’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.
The Institute’s Research Strategy:
- Increasing the availability and effectiveness of R&D resources,
- Strengthening a culture of science, research, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship,
- Supporting collaborative work and research processes between faculty members and students with high motivation,
- Contributing to technology and universal science by generating new knowledge through research conducted in line with national priorities,
- Producing scientific knowledge and disseminating it for societal use,
- Encouraging academia and stakeholders to transform scientific knowledge into technology that contributes to the national economy,
- Ensuring the effective use of Application and Research Centers in graduate thesis and project studies and informing students about these centers and their functions,
- Enabling students to establish international collaborations and academic partnerships and encouraging academic cooperation.
R&D Activities and Objectives (2/2)
In line with the University’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.:
- The BrainPark Technology Transfer Office, laboratories, Application and Research Centers, and Scientific Research Groups provide physical infrastructure and financial resources to support research and development activities.
To foster the entrepreneurial capacities of faculty members and students, the Entrepreneurship Center established by the University encourages the development of entrepreneurs who contribute to sustainable, value-added social and economic growth. Research activities at the University are monitored through the Smart Activity Tracking System (FTSmart). In addition, the Scientific Incentive Directive is implemented to support and enhance the competencies of faculty members.
Strategic Approach
The University pursues its research activities through an integrated strategy that extends beyond academic production to include industry collaboration, societal contribution, and international visibility. Within this framework:
- Knowledge resources are used effectively and efficiently,
- The research capacities of faculty members and students are continuously enhanced,
- Knowledge of production and dissemination are shared not only within academia but also with sectors such as media, health, and technology,
- Multidisciplinary research environments that promote creativity and productivity are actively supported.
Research Infrastructure and Resources
The Directorate of Research, Development, and Innovation Policies (ARGEYEP) provides guidance to researchers in project development, funding applications, and scientific consultancy. Working in an integrated manner with all academic units and application and research centers, this structure offers comprehensive support ranging from graduate theses to international academic collaborations.
The University’s research infrastructure is continuously developed and made accessible through:
- A specialized academic staff,
- Well-equipped laboratories and production studios,
- Access to e-libraries and digital databases,
- Thematic application and research centers.
Continuous Monitoring and Development
Each academic unit collaborates closely with ARGEYEP during the planning, implementation, and monitoring stages of research activities. Through this structure:
- Researchers receive training on project proposal writing and project implementation,
- Scientific publication performance is regularly monitored,
- Student participation and practice-oriented outputs are encouraged,
- Institutional knowledge accumulation is enhanced through publications such as patents, books, journal articles, and conference proceedings.
Academic Publications and International Visibility
Academic output at the University is supported through publications at both national and international levels. Journals published within academic units are indexed in various databases, enhancing their visibility within the global scientific community. In addition, students receive awards in various competitions through their applied projects and creative outputs.
Regularly organized meetings, symposia, and international collaborations further strengthen the University’s research culture on a global scale. These activities also provide significant opportunities for sectoral interaction and knowledge exchange.
