Our Department of Sociology, which operates within the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University, has successfully completed a comprehensive evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, Languages, and History and Geography (FEDEK) and has been accredited for a period of five years.
This decision demonstrates that our programs meet national accreditation standards in terms of the quality of education and instruction, the composition of the academic faculty, a student-centered approach, assessment and evaluation processes, continuous improvement efforts, and quality assurance systems.
What Is FEDEK Accreditation?
FEDEK is a national quality assurance organization that independently evaluates and accredits the educational quality of programs offered by the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, Languages, and History and Geography. FEDEK is one of the authorized organizations recognized by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) that contributes to quality assurance efforts in higher education.
Accreditation refers to the evaluation and approval by independent experts that an educational program meets established quality standards.
What Are the Benefits of Holding a FEDEK “Full Accreditation” Certificate for Students and Graduates?
“Full Accreditation” granted by FEDEK indicates that the educational quality of the relevant program has been evaluated by independent experts and meets national quality standards.
This provides various advantages for students and graduates:
For Students
- It demonstrates that the educational program is conducted in accordance with established quality standards.
- It provides assurance that course content, learning outcomes, and educational processes are regularly reviewed and improved.
- It demonstrates that student opinions and feedback are incorporated into educational processes.
- It supports the transparent and systematic implementation of assessment and evaluation processes.
- It demonstrates that the program is managed with a commitment to continuous improvement.
For Graduates
- It is an important indicator that the program from which one has graduated has undergone an independent quality assurance process.
- It enhances institutional credibility regarding the program’s educational quality in both the public and private sectors.
- It demonstrates that the program has quality assurance in the context of graduate education and academic career paths.
- It serves as a reference documenting that the knowledge, skills, and competencies possessed by graduates have been acquired in accordance with national quality standards.
Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance
Accreditation is not an end in itself, but rather a part of a philosophy of continuous improvement. Our department regularly evaluates and improves its educational processes based on feedback received from our students, graduates, employers, and other stakeholders.
We continue to aim not only to provide our students with a strong academic foundation but also to nurture individuals who can think critically, uphold ethical values, are sensitive to social issues, and possess a scientific perspective.
