Learning Outcomes – BA Program in English Translation and Interpreting

  1. Acquires theoretical knowledge in linguistic, literary, historical, and cultural fields that support Translation Studies, and applies this knowledge in text analysis in a way that is appropriate to the text type/genre.
  2. Develops in-depth knowledge of the structural, semantic, and cultural features of the source and target languages.
  3. Understands and interprets written and spoken texts in the source language, and renders them into the target language using language that matches their meaning and function.
  4. Recognizes core and specialized field terminology in Translation Studies (technical, literary, legal, etc.), and uses this terminology in appropriate contexts with due regard to linguistic and cultural appropriateness.
  5. Analyzes problems that arise in the translation process, develops solutions, and implements them effectively through individual work or teamwork.
  6. Uses computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, terminology management systems, and digital resources effectively in the translation process.
  7. Evaluates source and target texts critically, develops appropriate translation strategies, and applies these strategies in line with the purpose (Skopos) of the translation.
  8. Uses a second foreign language at a minimum level of B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  9. Applies field-specific research methods during the translation process, collects data, analyzes results, and makes effective use of reliable information sources.
  10. Acts in accordance with professional ethics, observing the principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and accuracy in translation processes.
  11. Establishes effective written and oral communication with individuals and institutions receiving translation services, and provides recommendations and solutions.
  12. Follows developments in the field—innovations, technological advances, and academic research, with an awareness of lifelong learning.
  13. Enhances professional development and translation experience by participating in national and international education programs, seminars, and projects.
