1. Possesses adequate knowledge regarding pathology laboratory operations; is aware of career planning and lifelong learning.
2. Ensures the effective use of materials and equipment in the pathology laboratory.
3. Keeps up with and applies current information regarding pathology laboratory operations.
4. Checks whether biopsy and cytology samples obtained from patients are adequate.
5. Informs the units submitting materials about the proper conditions for transporting pathological materials to the laboratory.
6. Properly performs tissue processing, sectioning, and embedding procedures; develops solutions for any problems that arise.
7. Applies histological and cytological staining methods and develops solutions for any problems that arise.
8. Prepares cytological materials under appropriate conditions.
9. Possesses foreign language skills necessary to competently apply immunohistochemical and molecular pathology techniques.
10. Explains first aid measures and protection against biological, physical, and chemical hazards encountered in the pathology laboratory.
