Opticianry Program Educational Objectives and Goals

Program Educational Objectives

1. To provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge related to the opticianry profession.
2. To provide students with knowledge of opticianry terminology, health legislation, and health law.
3. To educate graduates who practice the opticianry profession within the framework of ethical principles by fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Program graduates may serve as responsible managers in private optical establishments or have the right to establish an optical establishment.
4. To enable students to learn the basic concepts of epidemiology and apply these concepts appropriately in professional practice.
5. To provide students with knowledge of the professional authority and responsibilities related to opticianry.
6. To provide students with knowledge of basic vision devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low vision aids (telescopic products, etc.).
7. To enable students to select, dispense, prepare, and ensure user adaptation of basic vision devices according to prescriptions.
8. To enable students to measure the diopters of prescription eyeglass lenses and contact lenses and make the necessary adjustments for their assembly.
9. To provide students with fundamental knowledge of the eye, eye anatomy, eye physiology, eye diseases, vision health, and public health.
10. To provide students with sufficient knowledge of basic optical instruments.
11. To enable students to use general and professional software programs and hospital automation systems.
12. To enable students to provide information on the production and use of special eyeglasses.
13. To enable students to solve customer-related problems and provide professional guidance.

Program Goals

1. To educate healthcare technicians who possess an understanding of Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution and who use the Turkish language correctly and effectively.
2. To educate graduates who are able to apply fundamental knowledge of physics, chemistry, eye anatomy, and human anatomy in professional practice.
3. To educate individuals with intermediate-level professional English proficiency.
4. To educate technical personnel who understand and are able to apply systems specific to the field of opticianry.
5. To educate graduates who are able to use optical instruments and devices correctly and effectively.
6. To educate individuals who are able to select and assemble lenses and frames in accordance with prescriptions and patient data.
7. To educate graduates who are able to use opticianry software programs effectively.
8. To educate graduates who are able to contribute to basic management, cost calculation, business planning, and marketing processes in optical establishments.
9. To educate individuals who act in accordance with the principles of professional ethics, social responsibility, quality management, and occupational health and safety.
