What Is the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program?
The Dental Prosthesis Technology Program trains health technicians who, in order to restore lost teeth and their functions, carry out or oversee, using up-to-date technologies, the laboratory work for removable and fixed dental and maxillofacial prostheses applied to the jaw and facial region as part of the treatment planned by the dentist.
What Are the Responsibilities of Dental Prosthesis Technology Program Graduates?
- Checking the laboratory devices and tools before use and having them calibrated at regular intervals,
- Preparing the patient-specific model based on the impression taken by the dentist,
- Fabricating prostheses, orthodontic appliances and porcelain work, and repairing prostheses, according to the impressions taken and the instructions given by the dentist,
- Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory tools and equipment and performing the daily maintenance of devices.
Qualities Required of Dental Prosthesis Technicians
- They should have well-developed manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
- They should have careful, meticulous and patient work habits.

First-year, first-semester courses: Dental Morphology, Oral and Maxillofacial Anatomy and Masticatory Physiology, Materials and Instruments, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution, University Culture 1, Positive Psychology and Communication Skills, Turkish Language 1, English 1.
First-year, second-semester courses: Removable Prostheses 1, Fixed Prostheses 1, Occlusion, Turkish Language, University Culture 2, English 2, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution 2.
Second-year, first semester: Removable Prostheses 2, Sterilization, Orthodontics, Fixed Prostheses 2, Professional Ethics.
Second-year, second semester: Removable Prostheses 3, Maxillofacial Prostheses, Entrepreneurship, Summer Internship, Implant-Supported Prostheses.
What Are the Career Fields of Dental Prosthesis Technology Program Graduates?
It is estimated that in our country there will be a need for approximately 30,000 dentists in 2023, while the number of dentists in the same period will be around 20,000. Based on these data, it is expected that the demand for oral and dental health personnel will follow a similar trend in parallel with the shortage of dentists. Programs Available for Double Major (ÇAP):
Students of the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program have the opportunity to pursue a double major (ÇAP) in the Oral and Dental Health and Audiometry programs.
Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS):
Graduates of the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program can transfer vertically to the undergraduate programs in Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Health Management and Health Institutions Management through the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).
