High school students experienced Dental Prosthetics Technology in the university laboratory

The training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus was followed with great interest by high school students.
Department introduction and career opportunities explained
Within the scope of the program, students were first introduced to the department by Instructor Mehmet Kavacık, Head of the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program. Comprehensive information was shared about the educational content, application areas, and post-graduation employment opportunities.
Furthermore, the place of dental prosthetics technology in the healthcare sector and its contribution to oral and dental health were explained with examples, aiming to develop students' perspectives on the profession.

Theoretical knowledge reinforced with laboratory practices
During the training, students were provided with information on dental anatomy and morphology, structural characteristics of teeth, surface differences, and fundamental applications in prosthetics technology.
In the courses given by Instructor Murat Alkaç, Instructor Metehan Tuncay, and Instructor Melisa Erdem, students had the opportunity to examine tooth structure with its scientific foundations.

Tooth modeling with soap attracted interest
Following the theoretical training, in the practical workshops, students carried out tooth morphology modeling studies using soap material.
Shaping tooth forms in three dimensions according to the technical guidelines provided, students both developed their manual skills and experienced anatomical structures practically.
Practical education made learning permanent
The activity enabled students' active participation in the learning process, allowing theoretical knowledge to be supported by practical application. It was stated that the program increased students' professional awareness and strengthened their interest in the field of health.
Instructor Mehmet Kavacık: “Theoretical knowledge is strengthened by practice”
Instructor Mehmet Kavacık, Head of the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program, emphasized the importance of the event, stating; “It is very important for students to recognize professions in the health sector early for their career planning. Supporting theoretical knowledge with practice makes the learning process more efficient. These types of workshops strengthen both professional awareness and practical skills.”
