The Republic of Turkey, located on the Anatolian peninsula between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, which has a great geopolitical importance in world political history and today's international relations, is a state that is in direct relationship with not only regional but also global actors due to its geographical location and political power. In Anatolia, which has been home to ancient cultures, Turkey carries its political culture, which it has developed by blending geographical history with the history of Turkishness, into the future with its sociological, geopolitical and strategic importance.
For this reason, Anatolian geography has existed in history with its geopolitical importance and has a deep socio-cultural memory. Due to all these characteristics, it has very rich resources for research in multidisciplinary fields including both humanities and natural sciences.
In addition to being an important actor in today's international relations system, Turkey has both historical and anthropological significance due to the deep history of the geography it is located on. The historical cultural accumulation in Anatolia, where many civilizations have existed at different stages of thousands of years of history, and the blending of this cultural accumulation to the present day, undoubtedly contains rich resources for geographical, ethnographic and sociological research.
For Turkey, which is an effective power within the framework of "regionalism" approaches, which are becoming increasingly important in the global system, it is important to increase academic studies on neighboring countries in its own region and global power competition, both politically, economically and socio-culturally.
The Strategic Studies Application and Research Center was established with the aim of conducting academic studies within the scope of disciplines such as political science and international relations, sociology, history, psychology, political psychology, philosophy, communication, developing original projects, and contributing in academic cooperation with universities, strategic research centers and institutes in Turkey and abroad.
With the activities ofthe Strategic Research Center , it is planned to carry out academic studies in multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary fields within the scope of humanities within the scope of humanities within our university, to develop original projects, and to contribute in academic cooperation with universities, strategic research centers and institutes in Turkey and abroad.
Although there are 14 specific fields of study within the Strategic Studies Application and Research Center (ÜSSAM), 10 of these fields have an internship program for students studying in the field of social sciences at Üsküdar University. Intern students are expected to conduct research and develop projects in accordance with the area of specialization they are studying for the region and countries covered by the working desk they are affiliated with.
During the 90-day internship, students have many responsibilities such as actively taking part in academic activities within ÜSSAM, following the agenda, analyzing news and writing detailed analysis, writing articles, and taking part in ÜSSAM projects. A total of 65 intern students are currently working in our 1st Internship Period Program, which started on 01.04.2024.
