The presence of simulated patients and simulated patient laboratories is very important for the best execution of medical education. The presence of simulated patients who play the scenario of various diseases, as well as those who have the necessary skills as a result of the trainings given, are the basis of the work. In our Prof. Dr. Ercüment Özdoğan Simulated Patient Laboratory, thesimulated patient is asked to play the role of the simulated patient during the application, the student's behavior is observed, the entire interview is evaluated on the checklist and feedback is given to the students in accordance with the rules.
With simulated patients, real hospital equipment and medical supplies in our Simulated Patient Laboratory, students are aimed to develop all the necessary semiological approach skills for medical practice. They are also taught how to contribute to teamwork and how to communicate. In our laboratory, students are provided with the opportunity of a "controlled and risk-free clinical environment" that develops their critical thinking skills. Simulation applications aim to learn from the mistakes that medical students may make and to prevent the repetition of these mistakes in real life. In our Simulated Patient Laboratory; 3 examination/patient interview rooms that are close to reality have been simulated. The learning environment created makes a great contribution to students' clinical decision-making skills and self-confidence and helps them become medical doctors.
The simulated patient applications that we include in our Medical Education Program include clinical scenarios that may be very risky or rare in real environments and allow students to perform various medical practices. It is aimed that our Medical Students feel that they are in a real patient examination room during their practices in this Simulated Patient Laboratory. For this reason, in our Simulated Patient Laboratory, it is aimed to improve students' medical decision-making and analytical thinking skills with applications that increase the reality of the simulation environment.
