The “VIII. International Congress on Creation in the Light of Sciences,” hosted by Üsküdar Üniversitesi between October 24-26, 2024, with the main theme of "Holistic Approach to Creation" and supported by TÜBİTAK, has concluded. Scientists participating in the congress opened the 'Creation Manifesto' for signatures. The manifesto, also opened to public signature, emphasized that sufficient evidence has been reached indicating that the universe's existence is conscious and design-based.

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the manifesto is a very ambitious, revolutionary manifesto, saying, "The path of reason is creation..."

From the Manifesto;

“We, as those who prepared this Creation Manifesto, declare and proclaim, with holistic scientific evidence, that that eternal, absolute being with infinite knowledge, will, power, and wisdom (Vacib-ül Vücud), conforms to the concept of Tawhid (Allah) as expressed in the Holy Quran.”

The “VIII. International Congress on Creation in the Light of Sciences,” hosted by Üsküdar Üniversitesi between October 24-26, 2024, with the main theme of "Holistic Approach to Creation" and supported by TÜBİTAK, has concluded.

The 3-day congress, which saw over 100 participants from 5 countries, featured 84 presentations in 24 sessions. In the 'Creation Manifesto' published by participating scientists after the congress held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Health Campus Avicenna Auditorium, it was emphasized that sufficient evidence has been reached indicating that the universe's existence is conscious and design-based.

Humanity's most fundamental philosophical and scientific question…

The Manifesto, which begins by stating, “We, as scientists participating in the VIII. International Congress on Creation in the Light of Sciences held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi in Istanbul on October 24-26, 2024, deemed it appropriate, even necessary, to declare a 'Creation Manifesto.' Because scientific data and mathematical proof methods have reached a sufficient level of evidence indicating that the universe's existence is conscious and design-based,” pointed out that humanity's most fundamental philosophical and scientific question is why and how the universe first came into being, and why and how life began.

Two views exist; existence based on chance and existence based on conscious design…

The manifesto, noting that there are two known views on this matter: existence based on chance and existence based on conscious design, stated: “If the impossibility of one is proven, that is, if it is shown through the method of proof by contradiction (Reductio ad absurdum) that it cannot be, then the truth of the second is understood. The argument of reason asks, first, how and why an unintelligent and unconscious nature created intelligent and conscious humans. Second, it asks for the probability calculation of the spontaneous existence of decision-making algorithms found in nature, which science has discovered. Because this algorithmic logic is the Fuzzy logic of artificial intelligence. We cannot explain this algorithm, which humans are just beginning to understand, with an unintelligent evolution. These two views have different interpretations from both a scientific and philosophical perspective.”

The Impossibility of Chance Existence

The manifesto, which compared both views, explained them with reasoning methods, and sought an answer to the question through mathematical proof, continued as follows:

“The view of Chance Existence suggests that the universe formed as a result of natural processes and the accumulation of random events. According to the Big Bang theory, the age of the universe is approximately 13.8 billion years, while Webb Telescope data indicates that the universe emerged approximately 26.7 billion years ago and expanded within the framework of physical laws. Before the Big Bang, there should have been no time and matter; there should have been a reality outside space and time. The fundamental reasoning points of the chance existence view can be refuted one by one using the method of proving the opposite. According to quantum physics, some events can occur at the quantum level without an external cause. However, the Fine-Tuning Argument asserts that physical laws and universal constants are ‘fine-tuned’ to allow for the emergence of life. If there were very small changes in physical constants, the existence of the universe or the development of life would not be possible. According to the ‘Chaos Theorem,’ what appears wrong to us is part of perfection. Therefore, quantum uncertainty is part of the perfection of the universe. However, it cannot know reality outside space and time. Such perfection leaves no room for chance and, according to mathematical reason, requires an external will outside space and time.”

The impossibility of natural selection…

The Manifesto, referring to the thesis of Natural Selection, stated: “The diversification and development of living beings in the formation of life are explained by mutations and selection. However, when a child is in the mother's womb as a zygote (the first cell formed from half of the mother's and father's DNA), the child begins to move in the embryo at 8 weeks. In the tenth week, it transitions to the fetal stage, and limbs become distinct. The mother's womb regularly grows upward by one centimeter each week. After forty (40) weeks, birth occurs. It is a mandatory law that the amino acids in DNA always grow by making correct decisions. In this process, there should be no random mutations; otherwise, the child cannot be healthy. Therefore, the 'method of proof by contrapositive' demonstrates the impossibility of natural selection and that selection must be conscious, not random.”

The vastness of the universe and the length of time…

The Manifesto also referred to the Thesis of Primitive Conditions and Large Numbers, noting the following:

“Considering the vastness of the universe and the length of time, it suggests the probability of complex structures like life emerging randomly. When considered with the ‘modal reasoning method,’ according to mathematical proof, the formation of the right conditions is a very low-probability situation. Since probabilities of 10 to the power of 50 are considered impossible, the realization of these probabilities in the context of a large universe is mathematically impossible. Despite the vastness of the universe and the length of time, the emergence of a living organism from inanimate DNA by always making correct decisions for three weeks each spring without any mutations points to an absolute consciousness as a necessary being.”

There is an order operating according to 'Cybernetic Laws'

The Manifesto, stating that the universe is observed to have a complex structure where natural laws operate in harmony, and it is debated whether this order emerged spontaneously or as a result of design according to the “General Systems Theory,” said: “According to system theory, everything consists of interrelated small parts, but it is also considered a whole that functions as part of a larger system. There is an order operating according to 'Cybernetic Laws.' Cybernetics is the branch of science that examines the control and management of all complex systems, living and non-living. Cybernetic laws necessitate the existence of a steersman. The view of design-based existence, which argues that the universe and life were designed by a conscious mind rather than by chance, is, according to mathematical reason, the necessary option.”

“When the universe is viewed using the capacity of theory of mind, the existence of a being with absolute wisdom is a necessity”

The statement, noting that the view of Chance Existence cannot provide an explanation for the theory of having a Theory of Mind capacity, included the view: “Unlike other living beings, humans have the ability to generate hypotheses. Metacognitive neurogenetic tendencies such as ‘the search for meaning, novelty-seeking behavior, time awareness, the desire for eternity, and the perception of death’ are unique to humans. When humans abandon their mental attitude and surrender to nature, they become identical to animals. While humans are interested in the universe, they have the capacity to look not only at the universe but also at the meaning behind it. We observe that many people who use the capacity of theory of mind and see this truth cannot express it due to a positivist mental attitude and dogmatic scientific bias. When we look at the universe using the capacity of theory of mind, the existence of a being with immense and absolute knowledge, absolute will, absolute power, and absolute wisdom (Vacib-ül Vücud) is a necessity.”

“The universe is a necessary idea, being the product of a higher consciousness and a superior power, which can only be 'Divine Will'”

The Manifesto, pointing out that the feature distinguishing human consciousness from that of animals is the presence of "self-consciousness," emphasized the statement: “The thesis of random existence prefers to remain silent on the issue of consciousness. Because creating consciousness from matter is like creating something from nothing. Our skin completely changes in 20 days, and all cells in our body change after six months, yet our consciousness, which is like a computer's IP, never changes. Consciousness is a phenomenon very difficult to explain by random processes and is unique to humans. The design argument asserts that the existence of consciousness is the work of a designer. The deductive reasoning method points to the existence of conscious beings as evidence for the necessary existence of a higher consciousness and conscious design. The universe is a necessary idea, being the product of a higher consciousness and a superior power, which can only be 'Divine Will'.”

“When we look from the first cell to the most developed living beings, cooperation is the rule, struggle is the exception”

In the Manifesto, which noted that according to the 'life is a struggle' thesis, life came into being by chance and is a struggle where the strong survive and the weak perish by losing the struggle, the following was stated:

“When we look from the first cell to the most developed living beings, cooperation is the rule, struggle is the exception. The strong lion and the large dinosaur did not spread throughout the world. Dinosaurs having large armor but small brains caused them not to adapt. In the universe, it is not the strong that survive, but those who adapt according to their genetic codes. However, adaptation is only possible with a purpose. According to 'induction,' a method of understanding the whole from individual events, the balance of coexistence in nature refutes the thesis that life is a struggle. Because according to the law of homeostasis (balance), there is a delicate harmony; competition does not disrupt this balance. Life is an adaptation according to a purpose. It is imperative that the purpose aligns with the Divine Will.”

“The most reasonable option is that the purpose of the world's existence is the dialectic of trial”

The Manifesto, also drawing attention to the Problem of Evil and the Dialectic of Trial, stated: “Materialist science attempts to explain human purpose with the pleasure principle. Humans, unlike other living beings, are the only creatures capable of purposeful behavior, free thought, questioning existence, and abstract, conceptual, and symbolic thinking. It cannot be scientifically stated that there is no life after death. Humans also question why evils exist. They possess free will. For free will to exist, there must also be the freedom to do evil. The freedom to commit evil, make mistakes, and make wrong decisions is an indication of the existence of a trial. The mathematical reasoning method of ‘proof by contradiction’ results in ‘accountability.’ The fact that humans can commit evil is a contradiction. Therefore, according to holistic science, the most reasonable option is that the purpose of the world's existence is the dialectic of trial.”

“The only truth in the world without exception is death”

The Manifesto, which included the statement “The only truth in the world without exception is death,” noted: “The existence of programmed cell deaths has directed science towards the search for a cure for death. According to the theory of mind, death must signify a meaning beyond merely the end of our life. Creating such a perfect order and then destroying it is impossible according to the abductive reasoning method (Abduction). Abduction is a method of scientific discovery. It shows the most likely outcome based on observed conditions. Diseases are diagnosed with this method. It is not fair for those who do evil to die without paying a price and profiting from it. According to the operating cybernetic laws, those who do evil must pay a price. On the other hand, the neurogenetic tendency for the desire for eternity present in all humans necessitates an eternal life according to the abductive principle of causality. Therefore, there must be a resurrection, i.e., an 'afterlife'. We can say, 'The Creator desired to give, which is why He gave the desire to ask for it.'”

“The existence of a conscious wielder of will (Vacib-ül Vücud) is necessary”

The Manifesto also highlighted that the Law of Entropy necessitates an external will, stating: “Entropy is an energy law and the second law of thermodynamics. The universe systematically moves from order to disorder. According to this trajectory, the universe will end with heat death. According to this law, there is no darkness, only the absence of light; there is no cold, only the absence of heat. Continuous, precisely fine-tuned and calculated support with heat and light is required. This law drives humans, who possess the capacity of theory of mind, to search for meaning. The capacity of theory of mind is a function of mirror neurons in the human brain. If there is no external control and regulator, entropy increases, and order in the universe breaks down. The existence of a conscious wielder of will (Vacib-ül Vücud) outside space and time, who initiated the first existence, established perfect laws, and governs these laws every second, is necessary.”

Results of the 'Creation Manifesto' also opened for signatures…

The results of the 'Creation Manifesto,' also opened to public signature, were listed as follows:

“Scientific Explanations; Scientific observations and physical laws provide evidence in favor of design-based existence and the impossibility of chance existence in understanding the origin and development of the universe. However, the scientific model points to reasoning methods for ultimate questions such as ‘why is there something instead of nothing? Why does this universe exist?’

There are four paths leading to truth. The first is experiment and observation, the second is reasoning methods, the third is rational intuitions, and the fourth is rational beliefs.

The Conscious Design view; offers an alternative explanation for the origin of complexity, consciousness, and order in the universe, and also answers moral or metaphysical questions.

Conception of God (Ilah): The Conscious Design view, while attempting to explain phenomena such as order in the universe and the existence of consciousness, advocates for ‘a creator outside time and space as a necessary being (Vacib-ül Vücud)’. It explains existence with an absolute will possessing external will characteristics that knows, sees, governs, and controls everything.

We, as those who prepared this Creation Manifesto, declare and proclaim, with holistic scientific evidence, that that eternal, absolute being with infinite knowledge, will, power, and wisdom (Vacib-ül Vücud), conforms to the concept of Tawhid (Allah) as expressed in the Holy Quran.”
