Science, technology, and entrepreneurship shared the same stage in Üsküdar

An event titled “STEM Congress 2026” was organized by the STEM Projects Club, operating under the Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports (HCS) Department. The congress brought together prominent figures from the world of technology and science with students. With a multidisciplinary work culture at its core, the congress addressed topics shaping the future, from artificial intelligence to biotechnology, and from cybersecurity to entrepreneurship. 

The congress, held at Üsküdar University Main Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall, was attended by STEM Projects Club Advisor, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Software Engineering (English) Department Asst. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz, STEM Projects 2026 Vice President Aksel Deniz Akgül, as well as many academics, industry professionals, and students. 

During the congress, the transformation of theoretical knowledge into practical skills and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration were emphasized. 

Asst. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz: “The work done by our students is of a nature that can form an academic basis”

Club Advisor, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Software Engineering (English) Department Asst. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz spoke at the opening of the congress. İldiz highlighted the importance of bringing different scientific fields together at a common point; “We are trying to combine fields where it is difficult to establish communication partnerships once in the professional world, at an undergraduate level. The work done by our students is of a nature that can form an academic basis. Our aim is to enable them to transfer this multidisciplinary language to their professions early in their careers.”

 Aksel Deniz Akgül: “Our goal is to transform theoretical knowledge into practice”

STEM Projects 2026 Vice President Aksel Deniz Akgül spoke at the opening of the congress, addressing the founding philosophy of the club. Akgül; “As the STEM Projects Club, our primary goal is to transform theoretical knowledge into practical skills within a multidisciplinary working environment. Today, we are both gaining experience from valuable figures in the industry and sharing the projects our club directorates have worked on throughout the year. I hope this congress becomes a meeting point for new ideas and strong collaborations for all of us.”

Following the opening speeches, the sessions began.

The future of technology and the impact of mentorship were discussed

In the first session, Serkan Tunç, Chairman of the Board of AVB Biotechnology Inc., presented next-generation treatment technologies with his presentation titled “Epigenetic Regulation with Bioelectrical Code and the End of Fatal Diseases.”

Entrepreneur Mentor Sibel Kınak outlined a roadmap for young entrepreneurs under the title “Redefining Success in Technology Ventures: The Mentor Effect.” 
Technology Consultant, Mentor Gülhan Ertürk Akgül, assessed the future of the digital world with her presentation “Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence: Threats and Opportunities.” 

In the second session of the congress, the directorates within STEM Projects presented their scientific projects. The program also included practical workshops such as “3D Printing and Painting” and “CV Preparation and Web Portfolio.” 

Speaking at the closing of the congress, Kerem Üçkardeş, President of STEM Projects 2026, extended his thanks to the participants and supporting units. 
The event concluded with a group photo session.
