Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan participated as a speaker in the program organized by Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education. In the program organized for educators and administrators, Arıboğan made evaluations under the title 'Evil, Goodness, and Transparency'; 'Society is a structure that monitors everything. Above all, it is conscience that restrains evil. It is also conscience that guides us towards good. Conscience is our inner eye,' she said.

"Let's not normalize evil"
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rector's Advisor Arıboğan, pointing out that evil has become rampant in society in the new era, stated; 'We can very easily feel that evil has become rampant, growing much more erratically than normal in this era, which we call the age of legitimacy, where we share everything. We are faced with something that makes us realize how much our lives are surrounded by evil and evildoers. I can say that this has become widespread, especially in the digital environment, and is used very intensively by intelligence services. We are in a system where millions of people in a global society, under severe trauma, normalize evil, turning people into more depressed, more traumatized individuals with a more negative world. Let's not normalize evil any further,' she said.
"New norms prevail in the new era"
Emphasizing that it is difficult to explain goodness to the new generation of youth, Arıboğan said; 'We tell young people not to insult each other on social media. Good and bad values are not fully conveyed. While a malicious relationship exists on digital platforms, how will we teach the value of goodness? We are in a time now where no one cares about anyone else, and this is now considered normal. The fundamental issue is the lack of moral questioning. In this new era, new norms prevail,' she said.
"Conscience is our inner eye"
Arıboğan, touching upon the fact that humanity does not actually accept being evil and that evil has a legitimate reason, stated; 'Society is a structure that monitors everything. But above all, it is conscience that restrains evil. It is conscience that guides us towards good. We all want to be good. We cannot accept being evil. Our inner eye observes and distinguishes between right and wrong. Perhaps evil exists for the existence of good. People choose to be evil and, moreover, are not ashamed. They do not look back at their conscience, they choose not to look. Yet conscience is our inner eye,' she noted.
