Second-year students of the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Industrial Engineering, undertook a remarkable entrepreneurship-based final project as part of the “Work System Analysis and Design” course. In the project, conducted under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese, students were given a budget to experience real entrepreneurship.

Industrial Engineering students strengthen entrepreneurship culture

The projects prepared by the students as part of their final assignment were exhibited in the Lobby area of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus. During the event, students both introduced and offered their products for sale.

Tarhan visited the exhibition and examined the products
Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar Üniversitesi, visited the exhibition and closely examined the students' work. Tarhan conversed with the students and purchased some products. Stating that the project would be very beneficial, Tarhan emphasized the need to support young people in entrepreneurship.

Each student designed their own product
In the project, each student designed and produced their own product with the given budget. The type, quantity, and quality of the products were entirely left to the students. During the final period, products were introduced to the market through sales made at the school, and the profits generated were shared among the students. Thus, what could be achieved with limited resources was put into practice and tested.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese: “This was a project I had dreamed of for a long time”
Assist. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese from the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Industrial Engineering, explained the details of the project. Beşkese said: “This was a project I had dreamed of for a long time. We are training engineers, but I wondered if we could do it with a different system. I know our young people are very intelligent; the important thing is to unleash this potential. Students had the opportunity to apply what they learned in class in the field. They developed skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and creativity. This project involved cost calculation, design, and sales, meaning many competencies were activated simultaneously.”
Stating that the feedback from the project was highly positive, Beşkese also mentioned that evaluations would be made regarding what students learned from the project and how they experienced personal development.
