Student Admission Conditions

In order to apply to the master's program, candidates must hold an undergraduate diploma. The equivalence of undergraduate diplomas obtained abroad must be approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Graduates of undergraduate programs that admit students under the Quantitative-Weighted score type in the university entrance exam may apply to the program. Candidates who hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering will be required to attend the Scientific Preparation Program to be determined by the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering and the Institute Board of Directors.

Candidates applying to the Thesis Master's program must have obtained a minimum score of 55 on the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). Candidates who have obtained a score on the "Graduate Record Examination" (GRE) — which is accepted by the Interuniversity Board as equivalent to the ALES exam and is internationally recognized — equivalent to at least the required ALES score are also considered. In admission to master's programs, the ALES score, undergraduate grade point average, and interview/science exam result are evaluated.

For the Thesis Master's Program, in the evaluation, 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate grade point average, and 30% of the interview/science exam result are taken into account, and candidates are ranked from highest to lowest score based on the recommendation of the department's academic board and the decision of the institute's board of directors. In non-thesis programs, 50% of the undergraduate grade point average and 50% of the interview/science exam result are taken into account, and candidates are ranked from highest to lowest score based on the recommendation of the department's academic board and the decision of the institute's board of directors.

Total Number of Credits Required to Obtain a Master's Degree, and the Required Compulsory and Elective Courses

The Thesis Master's program consists of a minimum of 7 courses totaling no less than 21 credits, 1 seminar course, and a thesis study. The seminar course and thesis study are non-credit and are evaluated as pass or fail. The Thesis Master's program consists of a minimum of 8 courses, including the seminar course, and a thesis study, totaling at least 120 ECTS credits, with no semester having fewer than 60 ECTS credits. The student must register for the thesis period every semester starting, at the latest, from the semester following the assignment of an advisor. At most two of the courses a student takes may be selected from undergraduate courses, provided they were not taken during undergraduate study.

The Non-thesis Master's program consists of a minimum of 10 courses and a term project course, totaling no less than 30 credits and 60 ECTS. The student must register for the term project course in the semester it is taken and must submit a written project and/or report at the end of the semester. The term project course is non-credit and is evaluated as pass or fail. At most three of the courses a student takes may be selected from undergraduate courses, provided they were not taken during undergraduate study.
