What is Dialysis Program?
Dialysis treatment is the process of removing accumulated harmful substances, such as urea, and excess water from the body through an artificial membrane. It is effectively utilized in the treatment of advanced kidney failure. Dialysis treatment enables the continuation of life by performing some of the impaired kidney functions. Dialysis technicians are healthcare professionals who support this treatment. The Dialysis Program at Üsküdar University aims to meet the increasing demand for qualified personnel in Türkiye's rapidly expanding healthcare sector.
What Are the Responsibilities of Dialysis Program Graduates?
Taking care of patients who need to be connected to a dialysis machine in line with the instructions of the dialysis physician.
Ensuring that patients are connected to the machine and that the treatment is concluded.
Preparing the dialysis device for use before initiating dialysis treatment for the patient.
Ensuring the comprehensive monitoring of the patient throughout the treatment process.
Informing the patient and their relatives during the treatment process. Facilitating the patient's life throughout the treatment of kidney diseases.
What Are the Courses Taken in the Dialysis Program?
Courses Taken in the First Year – Fall Semester: Basic Anatomy and Physiology, Basic Microbiology in Dialysis, Principles of Patient Care, Basic Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Positive Psychology and Communication Skills, Turkish Language I, English I, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution I, University Culture I.
Courses Taken in the First Year – Spring Semester: Use and Maintenance of Dialysis Equipment, Dialysis I, Nephrology, Turkish Language II, English II, University Culture II.
Courses Taken in the Second Year – Fall Semester: Pathology, Dialysis II, First Aid, Health Law, Professional Ethics.
Courses Taken in the Second Year – Spring Semester: Rehabilitation in Dialysis Patients, Dialysis III, Summer Internship.
Transition to Undergraduate Programs from the Dialysis Program via the Vertical Transfer Exam Graduates can also gain the right to enroll in undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), provided that quotas are opened in their fields, by benefiting from the provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs to Undergraduate Education.
